Fibre-on-fibre Abrasion in Oxidised Polyacrylonitrile

Journal of the Textile Institute, 1996
This paper describes the analysis of a fibre-on-fibre abrasion test, in which two adjacent lengths of fibre contact one another in a twisted geometry. Consideration is given to the various factors contributing to the mechanical actions occurring during the test. Results are presented of a preliminary study, using this fibre-on-fibre abrasion technique,

Strength of individual hardwood fibres and fibre to fibre joints

Cellulose, 2016
In the present study hardwood fibre strength and fibre to fibre joint strength measurements using bleached, industrial eucalyptus kraft pulp have been performed. The device used for the measurements was a micro bond tester developed at Graz University of Technology. Results were compared to those obtained in previous studies dealing with both, hardwood

Hyperbolic, fibred links and fibre-concordances

Mathematical Proceedings of the Cambridge Philosophical Society, 1984
LetMbe a closed, connected, orientable 3-manifold. In Row [10], Jaco and Myers [3] and Myers [7], it was pointed out that the topological type of M is closely related to the knot theory inM. Therefore it is an interesting problem to find knots inMwith nice properties. Alexander provedMcontains a fibred link (see [9]).

Fibre/Fibre Interaction

Journal of Composite Materials, 1968
This paper is concerned with the effect of fibre/fibre interaction on the stress distribution and tensile strength of discontinuous, aligned fibre composites. The stress distribution for a rationalized composite is derived which shows good agreement with an experi ment on a large scale model fibre composite.

Formation of polyelectrolyte multilayers on fibres: Influence on wettability and fibre/fibre interaction

Journal of Colloid and Interface Science, 2006
Polydimethyldiallylammonium chloride (PDADMAC) and polystyrene sulfonate (PSS) have been used to build-up polyelectrolyte multilayers (PEMs) on chemical soft wood fibres and on SiO2 at various electrolyte concentrations. Adsorption onto SiO2 was studied using a stagnation point adsorption reflectometer (SPAR), and the adsorbed amount of PDADMAC and PSS
