Ultrasonication to supersaturated protein solutions forcibly forms amyloid fibrils, thereby allowing the early-stage diagnosis for amyloidoses. Previously, we constructed a high-throughput sonoreactor to investigate features of the amyloid-fibril ...

Second-harmonic generation microscopy analysis reveals proteoglycan decorin is necessary for proper collagen organization in prostate. [PDF]
Collagen remodeling occurs in many prostate pathologies; however, the underlying structural architecture in both normal and diseased prostatic tissues is largely unexplored.

Atrial fibrillation (AF) is the most common sustained dysrhythmia in adults. It is ironic, then, that although mechanisms and effective treatments for most other supraventricular tachyarrhythmias have been discovered, AF remains incompletely understood and poorly treated.

A synthetic benzoxazine dimer derivative targets c‐Myc to inhibit colorectal cancer progression
Benzoxazine dimer derivatives bind to the bHLH‐LZ region of c‐Myc, disrupting c‐Myc/MAX complexes, which are evaluated from SAR analysis. This increases ubiquitination and reduces cellular c‐Myc. Impairing DNA repair mechanisms is shown through proteomic analysis.

This study integrates transcriptomic profiling of matched tumor and healthy tissues from 32 colorectal cancer patients with functional validation in patient‐derived organoids, revealing dysregulated metabolic programs driven by overexpressed xCT (SLC7A11) and SLC3A2, identifying an oncogenic cystine/glutamate transporter signature linked to ...

Limited proteolysis in the investigation of beta2-microglobulin amyloidogenic and fibrillar states. [PDF]
Amyloid fibrils of patients treated with regular haemodialysis essentially consists of β2-microglobulin (β2-m) and its truncated species ΔN6β2-m lacking six residues at the amino terminus.

Survivin and Aurora Kinase A control cell fate decisions during mitosis
Aurora A interacts with survivin during mitosis and regulates its centromeric role. Loss of Aurora A activity mislocalises survivin, the CPC and BubR1, leading to disruption of the spindle checkpoint and triggering premature mitotic exit, which we refer to as ‘mitotic slippage’.

A structure-based extracellular matrix expansion mechanism of fibrous tissue growth
Embryonic growth occurs predominately by an increase in cell number; little is known about growth mechanisms later in development when fibrous tissues account for the bulk of adult vertebrate mass. We present a model for fibrous tissue growth based on 3D-
