The role of liquid smoke coconut shell in the proliferation phase of an oral traumatic ulcer [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Pharmacy & Pharmacognosy Research, 2020
Context: Liquid smoke coconut shell (LS-CS) contains phenolic compounds that are able to promote wound healing by interfering with the inflammation phase of wound healing. The homeostatic mechanism that decreases the inflammation releases a growth factor

VEGF: An essential mediator of both angiogenesis and endochondral ossification [PDF]

open access: yes, 2007
During bone growth, development, and remodeling, angiogenesis as well as osteogenesis are closely associated processes, sharing some essential mediators.

Knockout of the mitoribosome rescue factors Ict1 or Mtrfr is viable in zebrafish but not mice: compensatory mechanisms underlying each factor's loss

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Mitochondria contain two mitoribosome rescue factors, ICT1 and MTRFR (C12orf65). ICT1 also functions as a mitoribosomal protein in mice and humans, and its loss is lethal. Although Mtrfr knockout mice could not be generated, knockout zebrafish lines for ict1 and mtrfr were established.

Expression of platelet-derived growth factor-beta receptor and bovine papillomavirus E5 and E7 oncoproteins in equine sarcoid. [PDF]

open access: yes, 2008
Equine sarcoids are benign fibroblastic skin tumours that are recognized throughout the world. Infection with bovine papillomavirus (BPV) types 1 and 2 has been implicated as a major factor in disease development; however, the cellular mechanisms ...

Effects of LL-37 on Gingival Fibroblasts: A Role in Periodontal Tissue Remodeling? [PDF]

open access: yes, 2018
Mounting evidence suggests that the host defence peptide, LL-37, plays a role in both inflammation and in wound healing; however, the role of this peptide in the remodeling and maintenance of oral tissues is not yet fully understood.

Profiling the effect of low frequency mechanical vibration on the metabolic and oxidative stress responses of A431 carcinoma

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
20 Hz mechanical vibration induced A431 cancer cells' apoptosis without such effect on other healthy cell lines of L929 and C2C12. Lowered glucose consumption is observed specifically in A431. The expressions of ROS, HMGB1, and HSP1 levels initially increase and subsequently decrease in the cancer cell line, as opposed to L929 and C2C12, which ...

Fibroblast growth factor-2 regulates myocardial infarct repair: effects on cell proliferation, scar contraction, and ventricular function.

open access: yesAmerican Journal of Pathology, 2007
Fibroblast growth factor-2 (FGF2, bFGF) has been proposed to regulate wound healing and angiogenesis, but skin wound healing in FGF2-knockout (FGF2-KO) animals is only slightly delayed.

Controlled release of Dextrin-conjugated growth factors to support growth and differentation of neural stem cells [PDF]

open access: yes, 2018
An essential aspect of stem cell in vitro culture and in vivo therapy is achieving sustained levels of growth factors to support stem cell survival and expansion, while maintaining their multipotency and differentiation potential. This study investigated

Compound Heterozygous MRPS14 Variants Associated With Leigh Syndrome

open access: yesAnnals of Clinical and Translational Neurology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT MRPS14 (uS14m) is a nuclear‐encoded ribosomal protein important for mitochondria‐specific translation. To date, only a single individual with a recessive MRPS14‐related disorder (also known as COXPD38) has been reported. We report an additional subject possessing novel compound heterozygous MRPS14 variants (p.Asp37Asn, p.Asn60Asp). The subject
