AbstractA malignant fibrous histiocytoma of the shoulder in an elderly woman is reported. This heterogenous tumor is thought to be the most common soft tissue sarcoma of late adult life. Typically, the tumor appears as an enlarging soft tissue mass in the proximal portion of an extremity.

MALIGNANT FIBROUS HISTIOCYTOMA

Seven cases of malignant fibrous histiocytoma are reported. Two patients had tumour involving the scrotum and small‐gut mesentery, which are unusual primary sites, while three others with pulmonary metastases are alive five years since the appearance of these metastases.

Fibrous histiocytoma of the larynx

Fibrous histiocytoma has a variable, unpredictable behaviour and potential for malignancy. The treatment of choice is wide local excision, which, in the larynx, entails total laryngectomy. A case of fibrous histiocytoma of the larynx, treated successfully by radiotherapy, is presented.

Eyelid Fibrous Histiocytoma

Abstract A 62-year-old woman had a painless, asymptomatic, eyelid mass that progressively increased in size over a six-month period. Histologic study of the excisional biopsy specimen revealed a fibrous histiocytoma that contained areas of granuloma formation. A three-year follow-up has shown no recurrence of the tumor. Authors review the case history and follow-up of a rare malignant fibrous histiocytoma patient, based on the relevant literary data. The tumor filled the retroperitoneum on the right side, in front of the right kidney. Intravenous urography and computer tomography revealed a 10 x 15 cm sized mass, suspect of being a kidney tumor.
