Functional iron deficiency and outcomes in patients with kidney disease.
IntroductionThis study assesses the impact of functional iron deficiency (FID) on outcomes, including all-cause mortality, hospitalizations and non-fatal cardiovascular events in patients with non-dialysis chronic kidney disease (CKD) and hemodialysis ...

Ag‐based catalysts operated under elevated CO2 pressures exhibit markedly enhanced intrinsic activity for CO formation, with OD‐Ag achieving −200 mA cm–2 and 90% FECO at −1.3 VRHE. Mechanistic analysis shows that high pressure strengthens a *COOH‐mediated pathway by increasing intermediate coverage and suppressing hydrogen evolution, establishing CO2 ...

Bio‐Inspired Carbon Spheres Enable Active Sites Multiscale‐Anchoring and Pre‐Reduction
Combining the wet‐spinning technique with a “bionic design” concept, a bio‐inspired carbon sphere support with internal finger‐shaped pores and external craquelure structures is designed and constructed, and the corresponding carbon sphere reactor is fabricated through the multiscale anchoring and the pre‐reduced promoting, and verified for application

Ru nanoparticles confined within mesoporous SiOx‐pillared montmorillonite exhibit exceptional performance for CO2 methanation. The catalyst maintains a high reaction rate even at elevated CO2 conversion while preserving high Ru mass–specific activity, overcoming typical inhibition by H2O and CO observed in conventional supported Ru catalysts.

Contagious fear: Escape behavior increases with flock size in European gregarious birds
Flight initiation distance (FID), the distance at which individuals take flight when approached by a potential (human) predator, is a tool for understanding predator–prey interactions. Among the factors affecting FID, tests of effects of group size (i.e.,

The influence of head‐to‐tail cyclization, as well as the effect of ring expansion with an additional glycine on lanmodulin‐inspired peptides on the structure and lanthanide (Ln)‐binding behavior was investigated. While the decrease of structural flexibility can indeed increase the Ln affinity and peptide pre‐organization, it does not lead to an ...

Ir Complexes With Mixed‐Valent Bidentate Ligands: From Complex Synthesis to Catalytic Application
ABSTRACT The bidentate ligands Ph2P(E)NHPPh2 (E = S, Se) feature phosphorous atoms in two different oxidation states and provide the potential to tune chemical reactivity through the choice of donor E. The mononuclear complexes [Ir(COD){κ2‐P,E‐Ph2P(E)NPPh2}] (E = S 1a, Se 1b) were prepared from the dimer [IrClCOD]2 (COD = 1,5‐cyclooctadiene) and the ...
