Quantification of projective distortion for fiducial markers
2013 21st Signal Processing and Communications Applications Conference (SIU), 2013The aim of this study is to quantify the projective distortion of candidate quadrilaterals found in a square-framed fiducial marker detection algorithm. Based on the quantified value, candidates can be eliminated in such a way that only the quadrilaterals that may be a projective transformation of a square remain.

Fiducial Marker Placement Via Convex Probe EBUS
Journal of Bronchology & Interventional Pulmonology, 2016The efficacy of low-dose computed tomography screening is likely to increase the number of early-stage lung cancers identified. The aging population, as well as increase in number of patients with multiple comorbidities, suggests that nonsurgical techniques such as stereotactic body radiotherapy will be vital in treating such malignancies. Convex probe

Endoscopic Ultrasound-Guided Fiducial Markers and Brachytherapy
Gastrointestinal Endoscopy Clinics of North America, 2012Endoscopic ultrasound (EUS)-guided needle placement of small radiopaque particles paves the way for EUS-guided fiducial markers and brachytherapy. Stereotactic body radiation therapy relies on image-guided radiation therapy (IGRT), permitting escalation of radiation dose to tumors while minimizing dose to normal tissues. Fiducial markers are radiopaque

Fiducial Marker Placement for Intraoperative Spine Localization
Journal of Vascular and Interventional Radiology, 2011In recent years, there has been a great increase in the number of cases of image-guided fiducial marker placement for the purposes of stereotactic radiosurgery. At the authors' parent institution, a tertiary referral academic medical center, the placement of fiducial markers has also been used for the purposes of localization before spine surgery ...

Fiducial Markers for Image Guided Partial Breast Irradiation
International Journal of Radiation Oncology*Biology*Physics, 2012This study was undertaken to study the role of fiducial markers for image-guided partial breast irradiation (IG-PBI), and to compare the shifts based on bony anatomy and fiducial markers.Fifteen patients underwent IGPBI. Three fiducial markers were placed in the tumour bed at the time of surgery.

Tracking fiducial markers with discriminative correlation filters
Image and Vision Computing, 2021In the last few years, squared fiducial markers have become a popular and efficient tool to solve monocular localization and tracking problems at a very low cost. Nevertheless, marker detection is affected by noise and blur: small camera movements may cause image blurriness that prevents marker detection.

Hyperthermia properties of gold fiducial markers
Physica Medica, 2018Purpose. The combination of Radiotherapy and Magnetic Fluid Hyperthermia (MFH) is gaining importance since it may offer new strategies for several oncological pathologies. In MFH magnetic nanoparticles are injected directly into the tumour and, under the action of an externally applied alternating magnetic field HAC, they generate an amount of heat ...

Embedding prolene for the development of fiducial markers
The Anatomical Record, 1989AbstractA simple, inexpensive method is described for embedding Prolene with tissue samples to provide landmarks for fiducial points to align serial sections in tissue reconstructions. Prolene is a monofilament suture material that can be easily sectioned with diamond knives to provide circular markers in each section.

Using dynamic programming to improve fiducial marker localization
Physics in Medicine and Biology, 2014Fiducial markers are used in a wide range of medical imaging applications. In radiation therapy, they are often implanted near tumors and used as motion surrogates that are tracked with fluoroscopy. We propose a novel and robust method based on dynamic programming (DP) for retrospectively localizing radiopaque fiducial markers in fluoroscopic images ...

A noninvasive, reattachable skull fiducial marker system
Journal of Neurosurgery, 1995✓ As computer-interactive technologies become more widely used in neurosurgery, radiology, and radiation therapy, the need for an optimum skull fiducial marker system increases. In the past, intracranial localization methods required precisely machined metal frames and rigid pin fixation to the skull.
