Trust Me, I'm an Expert: Evaluating the Relation Between Expertise and Trust in Regulators

open access: yesGovernance, Volume 39, Issue 3, July 2026.
ABSTRACT Trust is central to research on regulatory governance, underpinning both the legitimacy and effectiveness of regulatory bodies. Yet, while its importance is often assumed, less is known about its organizational drivers. Departing from the idea that regulatory agencies are expert‐based organizations within their fields, we argue that trust ...

Consumer Vulnerability in Financial Product Innovation: An Ethics of Care Perspective

open access: yesInternational Journal of Consumer Studies, Volume 50, Issue 4, July 2026.
ABSTRACT Innovation plays a significant role in improving economic and societal outcomes. However, its benefits are often undermined by a failure to adequately consider evolving consumer needs and the multifaceted nature of consumer vulnerability, raising ethical concerns. While product innovation generally targets consumer interests, service providers,

RNA‐based CLEM (RCLEM) bridging RNA localisation and ultrastructural mapping in 3D

open access: yesJournal of Microscopy, Volume 303, Issue 1, Page 120-131, July 2026.
Abstract Spatial transcriptomics and in situ hybridisation techniques have become essential for contextualising single‐cell RNA sequencing (scRNA‐seq) data by mapping cell type– and state–specific mRNA expression within intact tissues. Beyond validating scRNA‐seq predictions, these spatial methods provide critical insight into the localisation of ...

From EM to AI: Multiscale imaging of the secretory pathway with insights from plant cells

open access: yesJournal of Microscopy, Volume 303, Issue 1, Page 3-20, July 2026.
Abstract The secretory pathway is a central and evolutionarily conserved feature of eukaryotic cells, responsible for protein and lipid trafficking, membrane biogenesis, signalling, and cellular homeostasis. Its complexity, dynamic behaviour, and nanoscale organisation have made it a longstanding target of microscopy‐driven investigation.

Marker orientation in fiducial registration

SPIE Proceedings, 2003
Fiducial markers are often employed in image-guided surgical procedures to provide positional information based on pre-operative images. In the standard technique, centroids of three or more markers are localized in both image space and physical space. The localized positions are used in a closed-form algorithm to determine the three-dimensional rigid ...

Quantification of projective distortion for fiducial markers

2013 21st Signal Processing and Communications Applications Conference (SIU), 2013
The aim of this study is to quantify the projective distortion of candidate quadrilaterals found in a square-framed fiducial marker detection algorithm. Based on the quantified value, candidates can be eliminated in such a way that only the quadrilaterals that may be a projective transformation of a square remain.

Speeded up detection of squared fiducial markers

Image and Vision Computing, 2018
Squared planar markers have become a popular method for pose estimation in applications such as autonomous robots, unmanned vehicles and virtual trainers. The markers allow estimating the position of a monocular camera with minimal cost, high robustness, and speed.

Embedding prolene for the development of fiducial markers

The Anatomical Record, 1989
AbstractA simple, inexpensive method is described for embedding Prolene with tissue samples to provide landmarks for fiducial points to align serial sections in tissue reconstructions. Prolene is a monofilament suture material that can be easily sectioned with diamond knives to provide circular markers in each section.

Technique for Implantation of Fiducial Markers in the Prostate

Urology, 2007
To describe our experience in developing a technique for implanting fiducial markers (gold markers and electromagnetic transponders) in the prostate by the transrectal approach under ultrasound guidance. Our technique requires an endocavitary probe (ultrasound transducer) designed for prostate imaging, an ultrasound system with software to visualize the
