Artificial Intelligence in Systemic Sclerosis: Clinical Applications, Challenges, and Future Directions

open access: yesArthritis Care &Research, EarlyView.
Systemic sclerosis (SSc) is a rare autoimmune disease defined by immune dysregulation, vasculopathy, and progressive fibrosis of the skin and internal organs. Despite advances in care, major complications such as interstitial lung disease (ILD) and myocardial involvement remain the leading causes of morbidity and mortality.

Experimental Evaluation of 100Cr6 Steel Microindented Surfaces Under Lubricated Nonconformal Point Contacts

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
The tribological behavior of 100Cr6 steel spheres textured via Vickers microindentation is evaluated under lubricated sliding by varying both dimple size and density. Fine and dense textures significantly reduce friction across all lubrication regimes, while large dimples increase it.

Torque analysis on a double rotor electrical variable transmission with hybrid excitation [PDF]

open access: yes, 2017
An electrical variable transmission (EVT) can be used as a power splitting device in hybrid electrical vehicles. The EVT analyzed in this paper is a rotating field electrical machine having two concentric rotors.

EBSD Study of Creep‐Induced Lattice Misorientation in MgO‐Particle‐Reinforced Austenitic Steel Composites

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Creep experiments at 900°C on coarse‐grained steel‐ceramic composites containing recycled magnesia reveal that higher ceramic volume fractions significantly enhance the creep resistance. Detailed EBSD investigations identify subgrain formation in the steel matrix as the dominant deformation mechanism.

Hybrid excited permanent magnet machines for electric and hybrid electric vehicles

open access: yesCES Transactions on Electrical Machines and Systems, 2019
This paper reviews various hybrid excited (HE) machines from the perspective of location of PM and DC excitation, series/parallel connection of PM and DC excited magnetic fields, and 2D/3D magnetic fields, respectively.

The Storm-Track Response to Idealized SST Perturbations in an Aquaplanet GCM [PDF]

open access: yes, 2008
The tropospheric response to midlatitude SST anomalies has been investigated through a series of aquaplanet simulations using a high-resolution version of the Hadley Centre atmosphere model (HadAM3) under perpetual equinox conditions.

Reduction of Oxide Inclusions During the High‐Frequency Welding of Steel via a Nonthermal Ar/H2 Plasma Jet

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
High‐frequency (HF) welding of steel is limited by oxide inclusions that degrade weld quality. This study demonstrates, for the first time, the integration of a nonthermal Ar/H2 dielectric barrier discharge (DBD) plasma jet into HF welding. Local plasma treatment provides effective shielding and in‐situ oxide reduction, resulting in markedly fewer and ...

Study on the effect of rock stratum structure on the stability of weakly cemented layered floor and the floor control measures: A case study of Meihuajing Mine

open access: yesEnergy Science & Engineering, 2023
Given the deformation and instability of the layered floor of weakly cemented soft rock roadway, taking the mining roadway of Meihuajing Mine as the engineering background, the deformation and instability mechanism of the floor and the control measures ...

Sliding Mode Control of Induction Motor with Vector Control in Field Weakening

open access: yesModern Applied Science, 2015
This paper presents a vector control sliding mode control (SMC) scheme in the field weakening (FW) region with optimal flux based algorithm. The observation of the rotor flux and stator flux components are also included. This work proves the advantages of vector controlled IM for high performance application in the industry.

Flux Weakening Strategy Optimization for Five-Phase PM Machine with Concentrated Windings [PDF]

open access: yes, 2012
The paper applies an Efficient Global Optimization method (EGO) to improve the efficiency, in flux weakening region, of a given 5-phase Permanent Magnet (PM) machine. An optimal control for the four independent currents is thus defined.
