Large Amplitude Free Vibration Analysis of Tapered Timoshenko Beams Using Coupled Displacement Field Method

open access: yes, 2018
Tapered beams are more efficient compared to uniform beams as they provide a better distribution of mass and strength and also meet special functional requirements in many engineering applications.

Regeneration of sand waves after dredging [PDF]

open access: yes, 2002
Sand waves are large bed waves on the seabed, being a few metres high and lying hundreds of metres apart. In some cases, these sand waves occur in navigation channels.

Air‐Pressure–Actuated Vibroacoustic Metamaterial With Tunable Bandgap: Design, Modeling, and Characterization

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
This article presents the design, modeling, and characterization of air‐pressure–actuated programmable vibroacoustic metamaterials (PVAMM). The study focuses on leveraging air pressure to dynamically tune resonance frequencies for effective noise attenuation.

Field-assisted birefringent Compton scattering

open access: yes, 2022
Motivated by experimental initiatives such as the Helmholtz International Beamline for Extreme Fields (HIBEF), we study Compton scattering of x-rays at electrons in a strong external field (e.g., a strong optical laser) with special emphasis on the ...

Complexity of scalar collapse in anti-de Sitter spacetime

open access: yesJournal of High Energy Physics, 2021
We calculate the volume and action forms of holographic complexity for the gravitational collapse of scalar field matter in asymptotically anti-de Sitter spacetime, using numerical methods to reproduce the geometry responding to the oscillating field ...

Field–Frequency-Dependent Non-linear Rheological Behavior of Magnetorheological Grease Under Large Amplitude Oscillatory Shear

open access: yesFrontiers in Materials, 2021
This article investigates the influence of frequency on the field-dependent non-linear rheology of magnetorheological (MR) grease under large amplitude oscillatory shear (LAOS).

Karl Popper and the Mechanisms of Hydrogen Embrittlement

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Representation of the beginning of loss of ductility rather than embrittlement. Small concentrations of hydrogen in a diffusible form within iron are well‐established to harm the mechanical integrity of steels. There are theories that attempt to explain the pernicious role of hydrogen.

Influence of Test Temperature and Test Frequency on Fatigue Life of Aluminum Alloy EN AW‐2618A

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
The influence of test temperature and test frequency on the fatigue life of EN AW‐2618A is investigated. High‐cycle fatigue tests are performed at different test temperatures and frequencies on the 1000 h/230°C overaged state. Both test parameters reduce fatigue life due to time‐dependent damage mechanisms.

Transmission amplitude through a Coulomb blockaded Majorana wire

open access: yesPhysical Review Research, 2021
We study coherent electronic transport through a Coulomb blockaded superconducting Rashba wire in the cotunneling regime between conductance resonances.

On the Use of Feynman Amplitudes in the Quantum Field Theory [PDF]

open access: yesProgress of Theoretical Physics, 1956
A set of Feynman amplitudes (connected Feynman amplitudes) with no irrelevant dependences due to vacuum effects is introduced systemattcally in conjunction with the definitton of connected parts of Green's functions. Coupled differential equations of these amplitudes are dertved, and as an illustration of the method, equations for the anharmonic ...
