Collector dependence of field emission in the Scanning Field Emission Microscopy
2021 34th International Vacuum Nanoelectronics Conference (IVNC), 2021We have performed density functional VASP calculations of a carbon covered tungsten surface under the presence of an electric field F directed away from the surface i.e., pushing the electrons into the surface. We have found that under the presence of this field the extrapolated to the surface straight line which represents the increase of the vacuum ...

Field Emission in Doped Nanotubes
Journal of Nanoscience and Nanotechnology, 2005Doping into nanotubes is an attractive and significant way to tailor their electron transport and emission properties. This article reviews some recent experimental and theoretical advances in the studies of doping behaviors in carbon nanotubes and gallium nitrogen nanotubes, and doping effects on their field electron emission properties.

Spike cathode for field emission
Physica Status Solidi (a), 1972A cathode plate with outgrowing spikes may serve as a field emission source for electrons. An estimation is presented for the field concentration according to a regular array of spikes. Spike cathodes have been produced from a semiconductor matrix containing needle-like metallic inclusions by etching-off a matrix layer.

Development of field emission displays
Journal of Vacuum Science & Technology B: Microelectronics and Nanometer Structures Processing, Measurement, and Phenomena, 2004Field emission displays (FED) are drawing attention as one of the most promising flat panel displays. Currently, the development stage of Spindt-type FEDs with Mo emitter is close to an end. The monocolor Spindt-type FEDs are being supplied to the market, and the color FEDs are ready for mass production.

Field emission monotron for THz emission
International Journal of Infrared and Millimeter Waves, 1997Small-signal negative conductance of a field emission monotron was calculated, which was considerably higher than that of a thermionic monotron due to strong bunching of emitted electrons in a field emission. The amplification constant of 28dB/mm is achieved at THz wave region by applying the monotron to a distributed amplifier and is sufficient to ...

Field emission in a microwave field*
Journal of Vacuum Science & Technology B: Microelectronics and Nanometer Structures Processing, Measurement, and Phenomena, 1995This article deals with principal peculiarities of field electron emission in a microwave field. The adiabaticity problem in respect to the field emission process, experimental verification of the Fowler–Nordheim theory, and problem of maximum densities of the emission current are analyzed.

Field emission from diamond particles studied by scanning field emission microscopy
Ultramicroscopy, 2003Field emission properties from diamond particles (DPs) are studied. The DPs with thin chemically vapor deposited (CVD) diamond overcoat, dispersed onto metal substrate, essentially exhibit negative electron affinity (NEA). Field emission, approximately 1mA/cm(2) under a macroscopic electric field of 3.5kV/mm are observed.

Field and thermionic-field emission in Schottky barriers
Solid-State Electronics, 1966Abstract Field emission and thermionic-field (T-F) emission are considered as the phenomena responsible for the excess currents observed both in the forward and reverse directions of Schottky barriers formed on highly doped semiconductors. Voltage-current characteristics are derived for field and thermionic-field emission in the forward and reverse ...

Field emission displays based on linear horizontal field emission cathodes
Journal of Vacuum Science & Technology B: Microelectronics and Nanometer Structures Processing, Measurement, and Phenomena, 1997We have developed a linear horizontal wedge field emission cathode for field emission displays. The cathode consists of a horizontal wedge with a diameter of curvature ∼10 nm. A self-aligned sloping gate is positioned at a distance of ∼10 nm above the wedge.
