A methionine‐lined active site governs carbocation stabilization and product specificity in a bacterial terpene synthase

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
This study reveals a unique active site enriched in methionine residues and demonstrates that these residues play a critical role by stabilizing carbocation intermediates through novel sulfur–cation interactions. Structure‐guided mutagenesis further revealed variants with significantly altered product profiles, enhancing pseudopterosin formation. These

Residual tail twisting in ascidian larvae is stabilized by asymmetric myofibrils that resist bilateral symmetry restoration

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Ascidian Ciona larvae initially show strong clockwise tail twisting, which is largely corrected during development. However, a small residual twist remains. This study shows that organized helical myofibrils in tail muscles mechanically stabilize this residual asymmetry, preventing complete restoration of bilateral symmetry and revealing how embryos ...

Pair density wave at high magnetic fields in cuprates with charge and spin orders

open access: yesNature Communications, 2020
Among the exotic phases in underdoped cuprates, the evidence of a pair density wave (PDW) remains inconclusive. Here, Shi et al. report transport signatures consistent with the presence of PDW pairing correlations that compete with uniform ...

Transcriptional network analysis of PTEN‐protein‐deficient prostate tumors reveals robust stromal reprogramming and signs of senescent paracrine communication

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Combining PTEN protein assessment and transcriptomic profiling of prostate tumors, we uncovered a network enriched in senescence and extracellular matrix (ECM) programs associated with PTEN loss and conserved in a mouse model. We show that PTEN‐deficient cells trigger paracrine remodeling of the surrounding stroma and this information could help ...

π–π Conjugated Bonds Stacking/Scattering for Switchable Lubrication in Supramolecular Hydrogel

open access: yesAdvanced Science
Existing polymer materials often lack the ability to dynamically adjust lubrication in response to external stimuli. This gap in adaptable lubrication technology limits their application in advanced systems such as intelligent motion devices and soft ...

PARP inhibition and pharmacological ascorbate demonstrate synergy in castration‐resistant prostate cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Pharmacologic ascorbate (vitamin C) increases ROS, disrupts cellular metabolism, and induces DNA damage in CRPC cells. These effects sensitize tumors to PARP inhibition, producing synergistic growth suppression with olaparib in vitro and significantly delayed tumor progression in vivo. Pyruvate rescue confirms ROS‐dependent activity.

Microstructure and properties of the welding heat-affected zone in CoCrNi medium-entropy alloy

open access: yesJournal of Materials Research and Technology
To analyze the microstructure and mechanical properties of different regions for the welding heat-affected zone (HAZ) of CoCrNi medium-entropy alloy (MEA), the thermal simulations were conducted at peak temperatures of 800 °C, 1000 °C, and 1200 °C to ...

IS THE ELECTROMAGNETIC FIELD MATERIAL?

open access: yes, 2022
Abstract The point of view is substantiated, according to which the electromagnetic field in free space is not a kind of matter, but only one of the measures of the stress state of the ether, which is due to the inhomogeneous distribution of matter in it with its inherent charges and currents.

A theory for magnetic-field effects of nonmagnetic organic semiconducting materials

open access: yes, 2010
A universal mechanism for strong magnetic-field effects of nonmagnetic organic semiconductors is presented. A weak magnetic field (less than hundreds mT) can substantially change the charge carrier hopping coefficient between two neighboring organic ...

Plecstatin inhibits hepatocellular carcinoma tumorigenesis and invasion through cytolinker plectin

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
The ruthenium‐based metallodrug plecstatin exerts its anticancer effect in hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) primarily through selective targeting of plectin. By disrupting plectin‐mediated cytoskeletal organization, plecstatin inhibits anchorage‐dependent growth, cell polarization, and tumor cell dissemination.
