Thermomechanical fatigue tests of laser beam powder bed fusion (PBF‐LB) Inconel 718 show that the additively manufactured material reaches almost the lifetimes of conventionally‐rolled material under no‐dwell conditions. Introducing dwell times at the maximum temperature markedly reduces the lifetimes due to pronounced grain boundary sliding associated

Nickel‐based alloys are widely used in high‐temperature applications due to their excellent mechanical strength and oxidation resistance. However, properties such as high‐temperature strength and pronounced work‐hardening make them difficult to machine.

Low hysteresis in composites ceramics achieved by building polarization field and restoring force
Large strain hysteresis and remnant strain are one of the vital reasons for the absence of BiFeO3-BaTiO3-based ceramics in commercial actuator fields.

We consider the scattering of Dirac particles in graphene due to the superposition of an external magnetic field and mechanical strain. As a model for a graphene nanobubble, we find exact analytical solutions for single-particle states inside and outside

Disordered (Fe50Co50)1−xPtx thin films exhibit a pronounced anomalous Nernst effect (ANE) with a strong composition dependence on both rigid and flexible substrates. The transverse thermoelectric response peaks near 22.5 at.% Pt, accompanied by enhanced αxy/σxy scaling, thermal transport, and ANE sensitivity.

Uncertainty in the Volume Strain Field of the Solid in Unsaturated Heterogeneous Deforming Media
In a partially saturated, heterogeneous deforming aquifer, we analyzed the solid's volume strain field within a stochastic framework. The differential equations describing the first two moments of the solid's volume strain field were developed through ...

Four‐point bending tests are conducted in an argon atmosphere on commercial MgO‐C brick grades with and without MgO‐C recyclate from room temperature up to 1300 °C. No detrimental effect of the MgO‐C recyclates on bending strength is found. Instead, a decisive influence of the total carbon content is observed, with lower total carbon contents ...

This study investigates thermo‐chemical processes during high‐temperature testing of two commercial MgO‐C brick grades, one containing 47.5 wt.% MgO‐C recyclate. Using ETV, DTA/TG‐MS, XRD, and SEM/EDS/EBSD, mechanisms such as carbothermal reduction of magnesia, impurity incorporation into the secondary MgO surface layer, and calcium‐rich phase ...

In mining, tunneling, and other engineering activities, the stability and strength of the surrounding rock system are primarily governed by the dynamic evolution of crack initiation, propagation, and interconnection in the rock material.

Application of continuum laws in discontinuity analysis based on a regularised displacement jump [PDF]
The application of continuum constitutive laws in embedded strong discontinuity analysis is examined. By adopting a regularised discontinuity (approximating the unbounded strain field resulting from a displacement jump with a bounded function), the ...
