Diversity and complexity in neural organoids

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Neural organoid research aims to expand genetic diversity on one side and increase tissue complexity on the other. Chimeroids integrate multiple donor genomes within single organoids. Self‐organising multi‐identity organoids, exogenous cell seeding, or enforced assembly of region‐specific organoids contribute to tissue complexity.

Individual differences provide a nuanced understanding of the contributions of age, experience, and level played to superior perceptual-cognitive-motor skill

open access: yesFrontiers in Psychology
Theories of expertise either predict superior performance is due to monotonic and progressive exposure to a domain task or due to non-linear exposure to a domain.

Developing Self-Similar Hybrid Control Architecture Based on SGAM-Based Methodology for Distributed Microgrids

open access: yesDesigns, 2018
Cyber-Physical Systems (CPS) are the complex systems that control and coordinate physical infrastructures, which may be geographically apart, via the use of Information and Communication Technology (ICT).

The alpha effect with imposed and dynamo-generated magnetic fields

open access: yes, 2009
Estimates for the nonlinear alpha effect in helical turbulence with an applied magnetic field are presented using two different approaches: the imposed-field method where the electromotive force owing to the applied field is used, and the test-field ...

AAA+ protein unfoldases—the Moirai of the proteome

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
AAA+ unfoldases are essential molecular motors that power protein degradation and disaggregation. This review integrates recent cryo‐electron microscopy (cryo‐EM) structures and single‐molecule biophysical data to reconcile competing models of substrate translocation.

Research on Automatic Monitoring Accuracy for Track Static Geometric Dimension Deviation and the Application

open access: yesChengshi guidao jiaotong yanjiu
[Objective] Currently, the measurement of track static geometric dimension deviations primarily employs methods such as track gauges, chord lines, and hand-push rail inspection trolleys.

Development and Application of Pin Type Hydraulic Oscillator

open access: yesShiyou jixie, 2021
The incapability of conventional hydraulic oscillators in oil-based drilling fluid and bottomhole high-temperature environment triggers the design of pin type hydraulic oscillators made of pure metal.

Field Test of Classical Symmetric Encryption with Continuous Variable Quantum Key Distribution

open access: yes, 2012
We report on the design and performance of a point-to-point classical symmetric encryption link with fast key renewal provided by a Continuous Variable Quantum Key Distribution (CVQKD) system. Our system was operational and able to encrypt point-to-point

f(R,T) gravity [PDF]

open access: yes, 2011
We consider f(R,T) modified theories of gravity, where the gravitational Lagrangian is given by an arbitrary function of the Ricci scalar R and of the trace of the stress-energy tensor T.
