Spin-charge separation for paired Dirac fermions in (1 + 1) dimensions

open access: yesJournal of High Energy Physics
We study Dirac fermions at finite density coupled to a complex pairing field assumed to obey scalar field theory with quartic self-repulsion. The bulk of our work develops the mathematics that elucidates the propagation of fermionic excitations in such ...

Irrelevant deformations of chiral bosons

open access: yesJournal of High Energy Physics, 2021
We study T T ¯ $$ \mathrm{T}\overline{\mathrm{T}} $$ deformations of chiral bosons using the formalism due to Sen. For arbitrary numbers of left- and right-chiral bosons, we find that the T T ¯ $$ \mathrm{T}\overline{\mathrm{T}} $$ -deformed Lagrangian ...

Instantons in Lifshitz Field Theories

open access: yes, 2015
BPS instantons are discussed in Lifshitz-type anisotropic field theories. We consider generalizations of the sigma model/Yang-Mills instantons in renormalizable higher dimensional models with the classical Lifshitz scaling invariance.

Aggressive prostate cancer is associated with pericyte dysfunction

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Tumor‐produced TGF‐β drives pericyte dysfunction in prostate cancer. This dysfunction is characterized by downregulation of some canonical pericyte markers (i.e., DES, CSPG4, and ACTA2) while maintaining the expression of others (i.e., PDGFRB, NOTCH3, and RGS5).

Quantizing Carrollian field theories

open access: yesJournal of High Energy Physics
Carrollian field theories have recently emerged as a candidate dual to flat space quantum gravity. We carefully quantize simple two-derivative Carrollian theories, revealing a strong sensitivity to the ultraviolet. They can be regulated upon being placed

Cytoplasmic p21 promotes stemness of colon cancer cells via activation of the NFκB pathway

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Cytoplasmic p21 promotes colorectal cancer stem cell (CSC) features by destabilizing the NFκB–IκB complex, activating NFκB signaling, and upregulating BCL‐xL and COX2. In contrast to nuclear p21, cytoplasmic p21 enhances spheroid formation and stemness transcription factor CD133.

Conformal field theories in a magnetic field

open access: yesPhysical Review Research
We study the properties of 2+1d conformal field theories (CFTs) in a background magnetic field. Using generalized particle-vortex duality, we argue that in many cases of interest the theory becomes gapped, which allows us to make a number of predictions ...

On the hydrodynamics of unstable excitations

open access: yesJournal of High Energy Physics, 2020
The generalized hydrodynamic (GHD) approach has been extremely successful in describing the out-of-equilibrium properties of a great variety of integrable many-body quantum systems.

Field theory supertubes [PDF]

open access: yesComptes Rendus. Physique, 2005
Starting with intersecting M2-branes in M-theory, the IIA supertube can be found by S1 compactification followed by a boost to the speed of light in the 11th dimension. A similar procedure applied to Donaldson–Uhlenbeck–Yau instantons on C3, viewed as intersecting membranes of D=7 supersymmetric Yang–Mills (SYM) theory, yields (for finite boost) a new ...
