Recovery of heavily fragmented JPEG files
AbstractFile carving from damaged file system plays an important role in file recovery for identifying evidence in digital forensics. In this paper, we focus on JPEG file carving, with an emphasis on heavily fragmented cases. The difficulty lies on how to order fragmented pieces into a complete picture without sufficient decoding information.

SIFT – File Fragment Classification Without Metadata
A vital issue of file carving in digital forensics is type classification of file fragments when the filesystem metadata is missing. Over the past decades, there have been several efforts for developing methods to classify file fragments. In this research, a novel sifting approach, named SIFT (Sifting File Types), is proposed.

Information model of coal mine safety production monitoring system based on OPC UA
There are many kinds of subsystems in the coal mine safety production monitoring system, and the types of equipments in the subsystems are multifarious, which leads to the low semantic completeness of data and the fragmentation of information interaction

FastMLST: A Multi-core Tool for Multilocus Sequence Typing of Draft Genome Assemblies
Multilocus Sequence Typing (MLST) is a precise microbial typing approach at the intra-species level for epidemiologic and evolutionary purposes. It operates by assigning a sequence type (ST) identifier to each specimen, based on a combination of alleles ...

Approaches to the classification of high entropy file fragments [PDF]
In this paper we propose novel approaches to the problem of classifying high entropy file fragments. We achieve 97% correct classification for encrypted fragments and 78% for compressed. Although classification of file fragments is central to the science of Digital Forensics, high entropy types have been regarded as a problem. Roussev and Garfinkel [1]

Keratin 19 (KRT19) is overexpressed in high‐grade serous ovarian cancer with high levels of Kallikrein‐related peptidases (KLK) 4–7 and is associated with poor survival. In vivo analyses demonstrate that elevated KRT19 increases peritoneal tumour burden.

Feature‐based Type Identification of File Fragments [PDF]
AbstractDigital information is packed into files when it is going to be stored on storage media. Each computer file is associated with a type. Type detection of computer data is a building block in different applications of computer forensics and security. Traditional methods were based on file extensions and metadata.

Somatic mutational landscape in von Hippel–Lindau familial hemangioblastoma
The causes of central nervous system (CNS) hemangioblastoma in Von Hippel–Lindau (vHL) disease are unclear. We used Whole Exome Sequencing (WES) on familial hemangioblastoma to investigate events that underlie tumor development. Our findings suggest that VHL loss creates a permissive environment for tumor formation, while additional alterations ...
