ATF4‐mediated stress response as a therapeutic vulnerability in chordoma

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
We screened 5 chordoma cell lines against 100+ inhibitors of epigenetic and metabolic pathways and kinases and identified halofuginone, a tRNA synthetase inhibitor. Mechanistically halofuginone induces an integrated stress response, with eIF2alpha phosphorylation, activation of ATF4 and its target genes CHOP, ASNS, INHBE leading to cell death ...

Galaxy QCxMS for straightforward semi-empirical quantum mechanical EI-MS prediction

open access: yesGigaByte
High-performance computing (HPC) environments are crucial for computational research, including quantum chemistry (QC), but pose challenges for non-expert users.

Feature‐based Type Identification of File Fragments [PDF]

open access: yesSecurity and Communication Networks, 2012
AbstractDigital information is packed into files when it is going to be stored on storage media. Each computer file is associated with a type. Type detection of computer data is a building block in different applications of computer forensics and security. Traditional methods were based on file extensions and metadata.

Therapeutic strategies for MMAE‐resistant bladder cancer through DPP4 inhibition

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
We established monomethyl auristatin E (MMAE)‐resistant bladder cancer (BC) cell lines by exposure to progressively increasing concentrations of MMAE in vitro. RNA sequencing showed DPP4 expression was increased in MMAE‐resistant BC cells. Both si‐DPP4 and the DPP4 inhibitor sitagliptin suppressed the viability of MMAE‐resistant BC cells.

Universal Scaling Relations in Scale-Free Structure Formation [PDF]

open access: yes, 2018
A large number of astronomical phenomena exhibit remarkably similar scaling relations. The most well-known of these is the mass distribution $\mathrm{d} N/\mathrm{d} M\propto M^{-2}$ which (to first order) describes stars, protostellar cores, clumps ...

Crucial parameters for precise copy number variation detection in formalin‐fixed paraffin‐embedded solid cancer samples

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
This study shows that copy number variations (CNVs) can be reliably detected in formalin‐fixed paraffin‐embedded (FFPE) solid cancer samples using ultra‐low‐pass whole‐genome sequencing, provided that key (pre)‐analytical parameters are optimized.

Circumstantial Evidence for a Critical Behavior in Peripheral Au + Au Collisions at 35 MeV/nucleon

open access: yes, 1995
The fragmentation resulting from peripheral Au + Au collisions at an incident energy of E = 35 MeV/nucleon is investigated. A power-law charge distribution, $A^{-\tau}$ with $\tau \approx 2.2$, and an intermittency signal are observed for events selected

Comparison of Transfer-to-Continuum and Eikonal Models of Projectile Fragmentation Reactions [PDF]

open access: yes, 2000
Spectroscopic properties of nuclei are accessible with projectile fragmentation reactions, but approximations made in the reaction theory can limit the accuracy of the determinations.

Identification of serum protein biomarkers for pre‐cancerous lesions associated with pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
This work identified serum proteins associated with pancreatic epithelial neoplasms (PanINs) and early‐stage PDAC. Proteomics screens assessed genetically engineered mice with abundant PanINs, KPC mice (Lox‐STOP‐Lox‐KrasG12D/+ Lox‐STOP‐Lox‐Trp53R172H/+ Pdx1‐Cre) before PDAC development and also early‐stage PDAC patients (n = 31), compared to benign ...

Interference fragmentation functions and spin asymmetries

open access: yes, 2001
A new class of fragmentation functions, arising from the interference of different hadron production channels, is analyzed. Their symmetry properties with respect to naive time-reversal transformations allow for the exploration of final-state ...
