The role of miR‐335‐5p in the redifferentiation of BRAF p.V600E thyroid cancers

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
The BRAF p.V600E mutation promotes thyroid cancer dedifferentiation and radioiodine resistance. Using a network approach, we identified miR‐335‐5p as a key regulator of BRAF‐mutated thyroid tumors. Restoring miR‐335‐5p increased thyroid‐specific gene expression and iodine uptake in cells and organoids.

Tumour–host interactions in Drosophila: mechanisms in the tumour micro‐ and macroenvironment

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
This review examines how tumour–host crosstalk takes place at multiple levels of biological organisation, from local cell competition and immune crosstalk to organism‐wide metabolic and physiological collapse. Here, we integrate findings from Drosophila melanogaster studies that reveal conserved mechanisms through which tumours hijack host systems to ...

Simultaneous Enhancement of Open-Circuit Voltage, Short-Circuit Current Density, and Fill Factor in Polymer Solar Cells [PDF]

open access: yes, 2011
Simultaneous enhancement of open-circuit voltage, short-circuit current density, and fill factor in highly efficient polymer solar cells by incorporating an alcohol/water-soluble conjugated polymer as cathode interlayer is domonstrated.

The low filling factor of dust in the Galaxy

open access: yesThe Astrophysical Journal, 1992
The neighborhood of 745 luminous stars in the IRAS Skyflux plates was examined for the presence of dust heated by the nearby star. One-hundred twenty-three dust clouds were found around only 106 of the stars with a volume filling factor of 0.006 and an intercloud separation of 46 pc.

Engineered extracellular vesicles enriched with the miR‐214/199a cluster enhance the efficacy of chemotherapy in ovarian cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Loss of the miR‐214/199a cluster is associated with recurrence in ovarian cancer. Engineered small extracellular vesicles (m214‐sEVs) elevate miR‐214‐3p/miR‐199a‐5p in tumor cells, suppress β‐catenin, TLR4, and YKT6 signaling, reprogram tumor‐derived sEV cargo, reduce chemoresistance and migration, and enhance carboplatin efficacy and survival in ...

High Fill-Factor Transport Experiments on the HCX [PDF]

open access: yes, 2004
Heavy-ion induction linacs have application as drivers for high energy density physics studies and ultimately as drivers for inertial fusion energy. Experiments on the High-Current Experiment (HCX) at LBNL explore heavy-ion beam transport at high fill ...

Understanding Fill Factor vs. Fuel Efficiency for Excavator Operation: A Case Study of Bench Loading [PDF]

open access: yes
The fill factor is a key metric used to evaluate the performance and efficiency of the excavator\u27s autonomous functions and operations. Optimizing the fill factor allows for an objective definition of a poor bucket and provides an opportunity for ...

Power Factor Correction using Valley-Fill SEPIC Topology with Fuzzy Logic Control [PDF]

open access: yes, 2014
This paper deals with a new Single Ended Primary Inductance Converter (SEPIC) for Power Factor Correction (PFC). The proposed converter is used in combination with SEPIC and a valley fill circuit.

Measurements of composite Skyrmions at filling factor

open access: yesPhysica B: Condensed Matter, 1998
Measurements of the fractional quantum Hall effect energy gaps at high pressures are presented that provide evidence for the existence of composite Skyrmions. Just as charged spin textures known as Skyrmions are thought to be the lowest lying excitations for electrons at v = 1, we show that composite Skyrmions can be formed at v = 1/3 when the electron

Planar open books, monodromy factorizations and symplectic fillings [PDF]

open access: yesGeometry & Topology, 2010
We study fillings of contact structures supported by planar open books by analyzing positive factorizations of their monodromy. Our method is based on Wendl's theorem on symplectic fillings of planar open books. We prove that every virtually overtwisted contact structure on L(p,1) has a unique filling, and describe fillable and non-fillable tight ...
