Effect of spherical blockage configurations on film cooling
With increasing inlet temperature of gas turbines, turbine blades need to be effectively protected by using cooling technologies. However, the deposition from the fuel impurities and dust particles in the air is often found inside film holes, which results in partial hole blockage.

Pressure Gradient Effects on Film Cooling [PDF]
Film cooling effectiveness was studied experimentally using a flat plate test facility with a single row of inclined round holes which injected high density, cryogenically cooled air. A pressure distribution representative of the suction side of a gas turbine blade was imposed on the test plate using a top wall contour.

Numerical analysis and design optimization on full coverage film-cooling for turbine guided vane
Based on numerical simulations, the heat transfer and flow field of a turbine vane are analyzed and the film cooling is improved. The optimization objective is increasing the overall cooling effectiveness with cascade pressure loss factors staying almost

Effects of Surface Roughness on Film Cooling [PDF]
A flat plate test section was used to study how surface roughness representative of an in-service turbine affects the film cooling adiabatic effectiveness and heat transfer coefficient for a round hole geometry. The injection was from a single row of round film cooling holes with injection angle of 30°.

Numerical study of effusion cooling on an adiabatic flat plate
The present study aims to investigate the effectiveness of effusion film cooling on an adiabatic flat plate. Cylindrical holes of 30° inclination are used for supplying cold air to the hot primary flow. A non-dimensional parameter called the film cooling

Effects of plasma actuation and hole configuration on film cooling performance
In this paper, plasma actuators are arranged asymmetrically downstream the wall to improve film cooling performance. Effects of blowing ratio, hole configuration and applied voltage on flow characteristics and film cooling effectiveness were investigated
