Adiabatic Film Cooling Effectiveness Measurements Throughout Multi-Row Film Cooling Arrays
Volume 5C: Heat Transfer, 2016Adiabatic film cooling effectiveness measurements are obtained using pressure-sensitive paint (PSP) on a flat film cooled surface. The effects of blowing ratio and hole spacing are investigated for four multi-row arrays comprised of 8 rows containing 52 holes of 3.8 mm diameter with 20° inclination angles and hole length-to-diameter ratio of 11.2.

Micro film cooling performance
International Journal of Heat and Mass Transfer, 2009A novel idea for micro film cooling experiment is proposed and conducted. Both fabrication of a micro film-cooled device and evaluation of its performance are presented. The film cooling device is placed in a wind tunnel system for evaluation with the blowing parameter (M) ranging from 1 to 12.5 and the film jet slot heights of 25 μm, 45 μm and 50 μm ...

Effects of Density and Blowing Ratios on the Turbulent Structure and Effectiveness of Film Cooling
Journal of turbomachinery, 2018Large eddy simulations (LES) were performed to investigate film cooling of a flat plate, where the cooling jets issued from a plenum through one row of circular holes of diameter D and length 4.7D that are inclined at 35 deg relative to the plate.

Scalable and Flexible Electrospun Film for Daytime Subambient Radiative Cooling.
ACS Applied Materials and Interfaces, 2021Daytime radiative cooling materials reflect solar light and dissipate heat directly to outer space without any energy consumption, and thus, have attracted much attention due to the potential applications in many fields.

The durability of gas turbine engines is strongly dependent on the component temperatures. For the combustor and turbine airfoils and endwalls, film cooling is used extensively to reduce component temperatures. Film cooling is a cooling method used in virtually all of today's aircraft turbine engines and in many power-generation turbine engines and yet

Film Cooling Effectiveness and Flow Structures of Butterfly-Shaped Film Cooling Hole Configuration
Volume 7A: Heat Transfer — Combustors; Film Cooling, 2023Abstract Film cooling is applied to various high-temperature components of a gas turbine and greatly affected by the shape of the injection hole. Numerous studies have been conducted to investigate various film cooling structures to increase the film cooling effectiveness by inducing coolants toward the surface.
