Isothermal elastohydrodynamic lubrication of point contacts. 4: Starvation results [PDF]

open access: yes
The influence of lubricant starvation on minimum film thickness was investigated by moving the inlet boundary closer to the contact center. The following expression was derived for the dimensionless inlet distance at the boundary between the fully ...

Load Carrying Capacity Analysis of Helicoidal Surface Thrust Bearing

open access: yesJixie chuandong, 2018
The different structural helicoidal surface thrust bearing lubrication models is built and calculated with FLUENT to analyze the effects of the thickness of the oil film, pitch of the helicoidal surface and angular speed on load capacity of the thrust ...

Lipid Nanoparticles for the Delivery of CRISPR/Cas9 Machinery to Enable Site‐Specific Integration of CFTR and Mutation‐Agnostic Disease Rescue

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Lipid nanoparticles (LNPs) are optimized to co‐deliver Cas9‐encoding messenger RNA (mRNA), a single guide RNA (sgRNA) targeting the endogenous cystic fibrosis transmembrane conductance regulator (CFTR) gene, and homologous linear double‐stranded donor DNA (ldsDNA) templates encoding CFTR.

Don’t Just Make Redistricters More Accountable to the People, Make Them the People [PDF]

open access: yes, 2010
This thesis investigated the heat transfer of internally oil cooled rotors in permanent magnet electric machines which are, among other things, used in hybrid vehicles or zero emission vehicles.

Printed Integrated Logic Circuits Based on Chitosan‐Gated Organic Transistors for Future Edible Systems

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Edible electronics needs integrated logic circuits for computation and control. This work presents a potentially edible printed chitosan‐gated transistor with a design optimized for integration in circuits. Its implementation in integrated logic gates and circuits operating at low voltage (0.7 V) is demonstrated, as well as the compatibility with an ...

Thickness dependence of the critical current density in superconducting films: a geometrical approach

open access: yes, 2010
We analyze the influence of the magnetic field generated by the supercurrents (self-field) on the current density distribution by numerical simulations.

Biodegradable and Recyclable Luminescent Mixed‐Matrix‐Membranes, Hydrogels, and Cryogels based on Nanoscale Metal‐Organic Frameworks and Biopolymers

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
The study presents biodegradable and recyclable mixed‐matrix membranes (MMMs), hydrogels, and cryogels using luminescent nanoscale metal‐organic frameworks (nMOFs) and biopolymers. These bio‐nMOF‐MMMs combine europium‐based nMOFs as probes for the status of the materials with the biopolymers agar and gelatine and present alternatives to conventional ...

Organic film thickness influence on the bias stress instability in Sexithiophene Field Effect Transistors

open access: yes, 2009
In this paper, the dynamics of bias stress phenomenon in Sexithiophene (T6) Field Effect Transistors (FETs) has been investigated. T6 FETs have been fabricated by vacuum depositing films with thickness from 10 nm to 130 nm on Si/SiO2 substrates.

Laser‐Induced Graphene from Waste Almond Shells

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Almond shells, an abundant agricultural by‐product, are repurposed to create a fully bioderived almond shell/chitosan composite (ASC) degradable in soil. ASC is converted into laser‐induced graphene (LIG) by laser scribing and proposed as a substrate for transient electronics.

Strain effect on electronic transport and ferromagnetic transition temperature in La$_{0.9}$Sr$_{0.1}$MnO$_{3}$ thin films

open access: yes, 2002
We report on a systematic study of strain effects on the transport properties and the ferromagnetic transition temperature $T_{c}$ of high-quality La$_{0.9}$Sr$_{0.1}$MnO$_{3}$ thin films epitaxially grown on (100) SrTiO$_{3}$ substrates.
