A Filtering Algorithm for the Stretch Constraint

2001
This paper describes a filtering algorithm for a type of constraint that often arises in rostering problems but that also has wider application. Defined on a sequence of variables, the stretch constraint restricts the number of consecutive identical values in the sequence.

Adaptive Information Filtering Algorithms

1999
Adaptive Information Filtering is concerned with filtering information streams in changing environments. The changes may occur both on the transmission side (the nature of the streams can change) and on the reception side (the interests of a user can change).

A Geometric Approach to the Filtered Backpropagation Algorithm

Ultrasonic Imaging, 1983
We show how the filtered backpropagation algorithm [1] for parallel-beam diffraction tomography can be implemented geometrically by weighted straight-line projections. The resulting algorithm is formally equivalent to the original approach using Fourier transforms [2], but reorganizes the calculations to separately backpropagate each plane-wave ...

Smoothing Filters in the DART Algorithm

2014
We propose new variants of the Discrete Algebraic Reconstruction Technique DART with a combined filtering technique. We also set up a test framework to investigate the influence of the filters for different number of sources and noise level in case of various parameters.

A mixed noise filtering algorithm based on the genetic algorithm and L-filter

2008 Symposium on Piezoelectricity, Acoustic Waves, and Device Applications, 2008
A novel algorithm for mixed noise filtering in image processing is presented, combing the genetic algorithm and L-filter. The algorithm based on central limit theorem estimates mixed noise model through inter-selecting region of interest in the image, and adds this mixed noise model to a small test image for rebuilding degraded process.

An Algorithm for High-Speed Digital Filters

IEEE Transactions on Computers, 1974
This paper describes an algorithm that is suitable for fast implementations of nonrecursive and recursive digital filters. High speed is realized at the expense of memory; however, the memory-speed tradeoff is flexible so that many hardware and software implementations are practical.

A Fast Algorithm for Errors-in-Variables Filtering

IEEE Transactions on Automatic Control, 2012
This note concerns the optimal estimation of the input and output sequences of linear time-invariant errors-in-variables (EIV) processes. An efficient recursive filtering algorithm is proposed. It is an innovation-based approach that relies on the triangular decomposition of block Toeplitz matrices.

A fast algorithm for general Volterra filtering

IEEE Transactions on Communications, 2000
Volterra filters are a classical instrument for nonlinear channels and systems modeling, noise and echo cancellation, signal estimation and detection, and various other applications. As is well known, the computational weight of Volterra filters exponentially grows with the nonlinearity degree.

A filtered backpropagation algorithm for diffraction tomography

Ultrasonic Imaging, 1982
A reconstruction algorithm is derived for parallel beam transmission computed tomography through two-dimensional structures in which diffraction of the insonifying beam must be taken into account. The algorithm is found to be completely analogous to the filtered backprojection algorithm of conventional transmission tomography with the exception that ...

Genetic algorithms and filtering

1st International Conference on Genetic Algorithms in Engineering Systems: Innovations and Applications (GALESIA), 1995
An improvement to a genetic algorithm used in constructing an IIR digital filter is presented. The aims of our improvement are the reconstruction of genetic operators and a new procedure for initial population selection applied to the filter design problem.
