The hydrodynamics of filter feeding in choanoflagellates
European Journal of Protistology, 2002Choanoflagellates are filter feeding heterotrophic nanoflagellates. Fluid flow generated by the motion of the flagellum delivers suspended prey particles to the surface of a crown-like filtering apparatus. Hydrodynamic characteristics are consequently of great importance to understanding prey capture in these organisms.

Feed forward filters for state and disturbance estimation
2007 46th IEEE Conference on Decision and Control, 2007This paper introduces a method for representing an observer as a set of decoupled filters to provide an understanding of observer design for the practitioner. The concept uses feed forward information to predict and cancel phase lag inherent in common filters.
