Histopathologic Features of Conjunctival Filtering Blebs [PDF]
To characterize and compare the histological features of conjunctiva obtained during the repair of trabeculectomy and inadvertent blebs and to assess the effects of antifibrotic agents. We used routine paraffin processing and light microscopy to examine conjunctival specimens from 28 eyes undergoing late bleb revision: 19 leaking trabeculectomy blebs, 5

Abstract Background Symmetric dimethylarginine (SDMA) is a biomarker of renal function derived from arginine methylation, unaffected by muscle mass or diet, and increases after only a 25% reduction in renal function, allowing earlier detection of renal dysfunction compared with serum creatinine.

Sutureless Revision of Overhanging Filtering Blebs [PDF]
We describe methods and outcomes of a technique for sutureless surgical revision of symptomatic corneal overhanging filtering blebs after trabeculectomy using mitomycin in 6 eyes in 6 patients. Separation of the bleb from the corneal surface was achieved by blunt or sharp dissection, as necessary, and the overhanging portion of the bleb was excised and

Abstract Purpose To assess the vision‐related quality of life (VRQoL) in glaucoma patients over 5 years after primary Baerveldt glaucoma implant (BGI) or trabeculectomy (TE) using a secondary analysis of a randomized clinical trial. Methods Patients were randomized to undergo TE or receive a BGI.

Australian and New Zealand Glaucoma Society (ANZGS) Consensus on Interventional Glaucoma
ABSTRACT Background Traditional reactive ‘wait and see’ approaches in glaucoma management often result in unacceptable rates of permanent vision loss. This consensus defines a proactive ‘interventional glaucoma’ framework tailored for the Australian and New Zealand healthcare context. Methods A modified Delphi consensus process was utilised, consisting

S‐Adenosylmethionine (SAM) hydrolases counter increased SAM epimerisation in thermophilic archaea
S‐Adenosyl‐l‐methionine (SAM) is a vital enzyme cofactor. Epimerisation at the sulfonium centre of biologically active (SS,SCα)‐SAM is driven by heat, yielding biologically inactive (RS,SCα)‐SAM. Here, two novel archaeal SAM hydrolases from the thermophilic Sulfolobus acidocaldarius and the halophilic Haloferax volcanii are shown to cleave (RS,SCα)‐SAM.

Abstract Quantitative analysis of fluorescence microscopy images remains a significant challenge in cytopathological assessments, as subjective interpretation and inter‐observer variability hinder reproducibility and standardization of classifications. In this study, an artificial intelligence‐assisted analytical framework utilizing a multimodal large ...

The extracellular matrix (ECM) is a dynamic scaffold that orchestrates tissue architecture and cellular communication. A critical but underexplored interplay between proteases and cluster of differentiation molecules (CD) governs ECM turnover and directs cell fate.
