A Synovium‐on‐Chip Platform to Study Multicellular Interactions in Arthritis

open access: yesAdvanced Healthcare Materials, EarlyView.
The Synovium‐on‐Chip comprises a thin microporous PDMS membrane to support co‐culture of fibroblast‐like synoviocytes (FLS), THP‐1‐derived macrophages, and endothelial cells, enabling real‐time analysis of synovial‐vascular interactions. FLS migration through the pores drives endothelial remodeling, while TNF‐α stimulation induces robust inflammatory ...

Conjunctival fibrosis following filtering glaucoma surgery

Experimental Eye Research, 2016
Despite advances in surgical technique and postoperative care, fibrosis remains the major impediment to a marked reduction of intraocular pressure without the need of additional medication (complete success) following filtering glaucoma surgery. Several aspects specific to filtering surgery may contribute to enhanced fibrosis.

Nonpenetrating filtering surgery in glaucoma

Current Opinion in Ophthalmology, 2000
Since 1967, trabeculectomy has been the standard drainage operation for most cases of medically uncontrolled glaucoma. It is associated with significant risk of hypotony, hyphema, choroidal effusion or hemorrhage, and bleb failure. Toward the goal of a safer and more reproducible glaucoma filtering surgery, nonperforating filtering surgeries are now ...
