Milk protein-based formulas containing different oils affect fatty acids balance in term infants: A randomized blinded crossover clinical trial

open access: yesLipids in Health and Disease, 2017
Background Palm olein is used in infant formula fat blends in order to match the fatty acid profile of human milk. While the effects on fatty acid balance have been evaluated, the use of palm olein in combination with palm kernel oil and supplementation ...

Salivary Porphyromonas gingivalis predicts outcome in oral squamous cell carcinomas: a cohort study

open access: yesBMC Oral Health, 2021
Background Studies suggest Porphyromonas gingivalis (Pg) increased the incidence of oral squamous cell carcinoma (OSCC). However, fimA genotypes distribution of Pg, the origination of Pg in tissue, and its prognostic value are inconclusive.

Single‐Crystalline Lateral p‐SnS/n‐SnSe van der Waals Heterostructures by Vapor Transport Growth with In Situ Bi Doping

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, Volume 36, Issue 28, 7 April 2026.
In‐situ doping during growth of SnSe and subsequent attachment of SnS produces high‐quality lateral pn‐heterojunctions between van der Waals semiconductors. Electron beam induced current measurements demonstrate electrically active pn‐junctions, paving the way for devices that harness charge separation at lateral interfaces in layered heterostructures.

A Family of non-Gaussian Martingales with Gaussian Marginals

open access: yes, 2006
We construct a family of non-Gaussian martingales the marginals of which are all Gaussian. We give the predictable quadratic variation of these processes and show they do not have continuous paths. These processes are Markovian and inhomogeneous in time,

Interrupting oral infection of Porphyromonas gingivalis with anti-FimA antibody attenuates bacterial dissemination to the arthritic joint and improves experimental arthritis

open access: yesExperimental and Molecular Medicine, 2018
Rheumatoid arthritis (RA) is a chronic autoimmune disease that typically results in strong inflammation and bone destruction in the joints. It is generally known that the pathogenesis of RA is linked to cardiovascular and periodontal diseases.

Porphyromonas gingivalis Suppresses Interferon‐Gamma Signaling in Macrophages Through a Contact‐Dependent, Gingipain‐Mediated Mechanism

open access: yesMicrobiologyOpen, Volume 15, Issue 2, April 2026.
This study reveals that Porphyromonas gingivalis suppresses IFN‐γ signaling by downregulating STAT1 in macrophages. Gingipain protease activity and the Type IX Secretion System are essential for this immune evasion mechanism. These findings identify a novel bacterial strategy for host immune suppression and suggest new therapeutic targets for P ...

Small non-coding RNA STnc640 regulates expression of fimA fimbrial gene and virulence of Salmonella enterica serovar Enteritidis

open access: yesBMC Veterinary Research, 2019
BackgroundSmall non-coding RNAs (sRNAs) regulate bacterial gene expression at the post-transcriptional level. STnc640 is a type of sRNA that was identified in Salmonella Typhimurium.ResultsIn this study, STnc640 in Salmonella Enteritidis was confirmed to

Escherichia Coli: Characteristics of Carbapenem Resistance and Virulence Factors

open access: yesBrazilian Archives of Biology and Technology, 2017
In this study, fifty Escherichia coli strains were analyzed by multiplex polymerase chain reaction for the genes expressed carbapenemase and virulence factors in order to determine the presence of carbapenemase and nine virulence factors and investigate ...
