In the present study the optimum dimensions of circular rectangular and triangular profile fins with fin-to-fin and fin-to-base radiant interaction are determined. The basic assumptions are one-dimensional heat conduction and black surface radiation. The governing equations are formulated by means of dimensionless variables and solved numerically.

Fin Efficiency of Serrated Fins

Fin efficiency of serrated fins was analyzed and an analytical solution of the theoretical fin efficiency was derived in the form of a function of modified Bessel functions. Furthermore, an approximate equation has been given which enables one to calculate the theoretical fin efficiency with a pocket calculator with an accuracy of - 1.5%.
