Natural Convection Heat Transfer from Horizontal Rectangular Fin Arrays
1994In this study, steady state natural convection in rectangular fin arrays on a horizontal base was numerically investigated. To solve the problem, the complete Navier-Stokes equations were transformed to a set of vorticity-vector potential equations. Vorticity transport and energy equations were numerically solved in three dimensions by ADI (Alternating

Natural convection in a periodically finned vertical channel
International Communications in Heat and Mass Transfer, 1999Abstract This paper presents the experimental results of natural convection in a rectangular cross-sectional vertical channel. Along the channel fins connected to both plates are placed, periodically. The channel walls are maintained at uniform heat flux. Rayleight number and Nusselt number are obtained based on channel width.

Experiments on natural convection heat transfer on the fins of a finned horizontal tube
International Journal of Heat and Mass Transfer, 1980Abstract Experiments were performed to determine the natural convection heat flux distribution on the faces of isothermal circumferential fins affixed to a horizontal heated (or cooled) tube. The naphthalene sublimation technique was used in the execution of the experiments, and the mass-transfer results were transformed to heat-transfer results by ...

ITherm'98. Sixth Intersociety Conference on Thermal and Thermomechanical Phenomena in Electronic Systems (Cat. No.98CH36208), 2002
A least-material optimization of pin-fin, plate-fin, and triangular-fin array geometries is performed, by extending the use of least-material single fin analysis to multiple fin arrays. The heat dissipation from vertical fin arrays in natural convection is calculated using the Nusselt number correlation by Aihara et al. (Int. J.

Thermal performance of plate fin heat sinks with dual-height fins subject to natural convection
International Journal of Heat and Mass Transfer, 2017Abstract In this study, the thermal performance of plate fin heat sinks with dual-height fin profile subject to natural convection is considered. The effect of dual-height configuration, fin spacing and channel length on the thermal performance of the heat sink is investigated numerically.

Fin-fishes in Yorùbá natural healing practices from southwest Nigeria
Journal of Ethnopharmacology, 2007Natural healing treatment recipes from southwest Nigeria were examined for fin-fishes of ethnomedical importance. Fifteen families of 19 genera were identified with members found either in marine, fresh or brackish waters. Two thousand two hundred and eighty-five recipes were examined, 9.11% contained fin-fish or its derivative as component.

Natural and forced convection heat transfer from a plate fin
International Journal of Heat and Mass Transfer, 1981Abstract An analysis is made of heat transfer from a plate fin, which is cooled by forced or natural convection. Approximate expressions are used to relate convective heat flux and temperature in the case of laminar and turbulent boundary layer in forced flow and in the case of natural convection in a vertical fin.

Thermal characteristics of natural convection cooled fin-tube heat exchanger
Experimental Thermal and Fluid Science, 1993ABSTRACT There are numerous instances where the heat transfer from a fin-and-tube heat exchanger to air takes place primarily via natural convection. The lack of data showing the effect of the fin spacing, the fin length and the Rayleigh number on the thermal performance of the exchanger prompted this experimentation.
