Fine needle sampling without aspiration
Pathology, 1995Four hundred and ten thyroid nodules, 127 breast lumps and 43 lymph nodes were sampled and analyzed to compare the classical aspiration (ASP) technique with the non aspiration needle jab (NASP) technique. The adequacy of cellularity, significant blood staining and the discomfort felt by the patient were assessed and statistically analyzed.

Pediatric Fine-Needle Aspiration Biopsy
American Journal of Clinical Pathology, 1991A total of 135 fine-needle aspiration (FNA) biopsies from varying sites were performed in 123 children (mean, 10.5 years; range, one day to 18 years) over a five-year period. One hundred thirty (96.3%) biopsy specimens were satisfactory for evaluation. Seventy-nine cases were nonneoplastic (60.8%); among these cases, a specific diagnosis of infectious ...

Thyroid Nodule Fine-Needle Aspiration
Seminars in Ultrasound, CT and MRI, 2012Thyroid nodules are a common clinical problem and are noted much more commonly on imaging examinations than are apparent by palpation. Fine-needle aspiration biopsy (FNA), which yields a cytology specimen for analysis, is the standard test to determine whether surgical removal of a detected nodule is recommended.

Fine‐Needle aspiration biopsy revisited.
The Laryngoscope, 1982AbstractBetween November 1972 and December 1981, 1303 fine needle aspiration biopsies were performed on pntients with head and neck masses at the Medical College of Virginia, Virginia Commonwealth University. This chapter describes in detail the technique of ultrasound (US)-guided fine-needle aspiration from the placement of the fine needle in the target to the rendering of a cytopathological diagnosis. The technique of fine-needle aspiration biopsy of solid masses is detailed, focusing on the critical step of manual aspiration.

Hepatoblastoma in Fine Needle Aspirates
Acta Cytologica, 1996To analyze cytomorphologic characteristics of hepatoblastoma (HB) and evaluate the feasibility of recognizing its histologic subtypes in smears.Fine needle aspirates from 14 primary and 1 metastatic HB were reexamined. The diagnosis of HB was confirmed by tissue examination (10 cases) and by clinical and laboratory findings alone (5 cases). In 12 ...

Transvaginal Fine Needle Aspiration Biopsy
Acta Cytologica, 2001To assess the role of transvaginal fine needle aspiration biopsy (FNAB) in the evaluation of palpable gynecologic masses.Transvaginal FNABs from 1994 to 1999 were identified from the files of Barnes-Jewish Hospital. Histologic correlation was obtained using the Pathology Department's computer database.

Quantitative Evaluation of Fine‐Needle Aspiration
Otolaryngology–Head and Neck Surgery, 1996A protocol was developed to obtain mature lymphocytes from freshly harvested tonsils by a combination of 5‐, 10‐, and 20‐ cm3 syringes and 21‐, 23‐, and 27‐gauge needles. The cells were then suspended in Earle's balanced salt solution and counted with an automated cell counter.

• The usefulness of fine-needle aspiration (FNA) for the diagnosis and management of metastatic carcinoma to the thyroid was determined by reviewing the records of 19 patients identified during a six-year period. Fine-needle aspiration was able to document metastatic cancer to the thyroid in 14 patients with, and five patients without a history of ...

Fine‐needle aspiration of cutaneous malakoplakia
Diagnostic Cytopathology, 1993AbstractA 99‐yr‐old Chinese woman with cutaneous malakoplakia and concomitant urinary tract infection was reported. The patient presented with an ulcerated right lower quadrant mass and computerized tomography showed that it was limited to the skin and subcutaneous tissue with no extension to the pelvic or abdominal structures.
