Performance of CO2 sequestrated recycled concrete fine aggregate in cement mortar [PDF]

open access: yesE3S Web of Conferences
The increasing carbon footprint of construction industry has demanded the use of sustainable materials in construction. The volume of Construction and Demolition (C&D) waste is steadily increasing all over the world due to the ageing infrastructure.

Mechanical Properties of High Strength Self Compacting Concrete Based on Rheological Mix Proportioning

open access: yesCivil and Environmental Engineering, 2023
The main problem is to raise the standard of construction, rethinking concrete's expanding potential as a construction material. The scarcity of river sand as a fine aggregate ingredient is currently a widespread issue for many concrete plants.

The skills required for transition to university and study in biological sciences: A student perspective

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Bioscience students were asked for their opinions on the value and teaching of skills. 204 responded that teamwork, time management and study skills are necessary to reach University, that scientific writing, research, laboratory and presentation skills are taught effectively during their studies, while other skills are gained inherently through study ...

Influence of limestone waste as partial replacement material for sand and marble powder in concrete properties

open access: yesHBRC Journal, 2012
Green concrete are generally composed of recycling materials as hundred or partial percent substitutes for aggregate, cement, and admixture in concrete. Limestone waste is obtained as a by-product during the production of aggregates through the crushing ...

Identifying gene expression signatures for risk stratification of postoperative adjuvant chemotherapy in colorectal cancer

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
A novel signature integrating genome‐wide analysis with clinical factors predicts recurrence in stage II colorectal cancer and enables a new risk stratification to guide postoperative adjuvant chemotherapy. Clinical risk stratification for postoperative recurrence in patients with pathological stage II (pStage II) colorectal cancer (CRC) is essential ...

YIPFα1A expression is regulated by multilayered molecular mechanisms

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
YIPFα1A, a five‐pass Golgi protein, is regulated at multiple layers. (1) Rare‐codon enrichment drives translation‐coupled mRNA decay. (2) A proximal 3′‐UTR element stabilizes mRNA. (3) A distal 3′‐UTR element included by alternate poly(A) site usage represses translation, which can be overridden by the proximal 3′‐UTR element.

Effects of bottom ash and granulated blast furnace slag as fine aggregate on abrasion resistance of concrete

open access: yesScience and Engineering of Composite Materials, 2017
Abrasion resistance is one of the most important durability properties of concrete. Especially, highway, airport and industrial floor pavements should be resistant to abrasion.

Identifying transcription factors controlling the basal expression of human MRP4 highlights a substantial role for Sp1

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
The MRP4 transporter exports several drugs and signaling molecules. Here, we identified key promoter elements regulating basal MRP4 expression. Using reporter assays, we defined a conserved region with essential Sp1 and contributory Ets sites, which controlled basal MRP4 expression.
