Physical and Chemical Properties of Gayo Coffee Brewed by Boiling Method with Variation of Particle Coffee Ground

open access: yesJIF (Jurnal Ilmu Fisika)
The effect of coffee ground particle size by the boiling method on the values of physical and chemical parameters is studied. The coffee used is Arabica (Luwak, wine, honey) and Robusta from the Gayo Highlands, Aceh Province, Indonesia.

13C NMR spectroscopy characterization of particle-size fractionated soil organic carbon in subalpine forest and grassland ecosystems

open access: yesBotanical Studies, 2017
Background Soil organic carbon (SOC) and carbon (C) functional groups in different particle-size fractions are important indicators of microbial activity and soil decomposition stages under wildfire disturbances.

Manifesto on small airway involvement and management in asthma and chronic obstructive pulmonary disease: an Interasma (Global Asthma Association - GAA) and World Allergy Organization (WAO) document endorsed by Allergic Rhinitis and its Impact on Asthma (ARIA) and Global Allergy and Asthma European Network (GA2LEN) [PDF]

open access: yes, 2016
Evidence that enables us to identify, assess, and access the small airways in asthma and chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) has led INTERASMA (Global Asthma Association) and WAO to take a position on the role of the small airways in these ...

Methods of investigating the content of metals and polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons in fine particles in the composition of fine particles polluting the ambient air (literature review)

open access: yesHygiene and sanitation
Ambient air pollution is currently a global problem. The presence of various toxic compounds in ambient air, including metals and polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAHs) with fine suspended particles, contributes to the development and increase in population morbidity. The aim of the study.

Characterization of Nitinol Produced by Laser Powder Bed Fusion for Mechanical Metamaterial Applications

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Stabilization of L‐PBF Ni50.7Ti49.3 under low‐cycle loading was investigated. Recoverable strain after cycling was dependent on the amount of applied load. Recovery ratio was 53.4% and 35.1% at intermediate and high load, respectively. The maximum total strain reached 10.3% at a high load of 1200 MPa.

Large-scale direct shear tests on silty sand gravel soil

open access: yesYantu gongcheng xuebao
By changing the content of particles below 5 mm in the mixture, the indoor direct shear tests on silty sand gravel soil are carried out. The shear characteristics of gravel soil and the variation laws between shear strength parameters and gravel content ...

Particle size effect on caking in sucrose : a thesis presented in partial fulfilment of the requirements for the degree of Masters in Chemical Technology at Massey University [PDF]

open access: yes, 2005
Caking, and the associated loss of flowability, have for a long time been a problem in the sugar industry, causing difficulties during conveying and making the product unacceptable to consumers.

EBSD Study of Creep‐Induced Lattice Misorientation in MgO‐Particle‐Reinforced Austenitic Steel Composites

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Creep experiments at 900°C on coarse‐grained steel‐ceramic composites containing recycled magnesia reveal that higher ceramic volume fractions significantly enhance the creep resistance. Detailed EBSD investigations identify subgrain formation in the steel matrix as the dominant deformation mechanism.

Reduction of Oxide Inclusions During the High‐Frequency Welding of Steel via a Nonthermal Ar/H2 Plasma Jet

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
High‐frequency (HF) welding of steel is limited by oxide inclusions that degrade weld quality. This study demonstrates, for the first time, the integration of a nonthermal Ar/H2 dielectric barrier discharge (DBD) plasma jet into HF welding. Local plasma treatment provides effective shielding and in‐situ oxide reduction, resulting in markedly fewer and ...
