Natural Little Hierarchy from a Partially Goldstone Twin Higgs

open access: yes, 2005
We construct a simple theory in which the fine-tuning of the standard model is significantly reduced. Radiative corrections to the quadratic part of the scalar potential are constrained to be symmetric under a global U(4) x U(4)' symmetry due to a ...

Rheology, granule growth and granule strength: Application to the wet granulation of lactose–MCC mixtures [PDF]

open access: yes, 2011
This study aims at better understanding the wet granulation process of a binary mixture composed of microcrystalline cellulose (water insoluble) and lactose (water soluble).

Deciphering transcriptional plasticity in pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma reveals alterations in sensory neuron innervation

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Pancreatic sensory neurons innervating healthy and PDAC tissue were retrogradely labeled and profiled by single‐cell RNA sequencing. Tumor‐associated innervation showed a dominant neurofilament‐positive subtype, altered mitochondrial gene signatures, and reduced non‐peptidergic neurons.

Exon 7 splicing of ERα predicts poor prognosis and increases phenotypic heterogeneity in luminal a subtype breast cancer

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
ERα splice variant ERα∆7 lacks the C‐terminus, and its expression may change phenotypes of breast cancers. Our results showed that ERα∆7 is found in the luminal A subtype, and elevated ERα∆7 levels are linked to improved cell survival with lower proliferation and migration.

Studies on the Effect of Moisture Content and Coarse and Fine Particle Concentration on Segregation in Bins

open access: yesKONA Powder and Particle Journal, 1996
Previous work by the author1-4) on particle size segregation in bins has been extended to consider the effect of the concentration of coarse particles. At low coarse concentrations a simplification can be achieved by plotting the non-dimensional concentration of coarse material C/CF to summarise the profile.

Molecular dynamics simulations of positively selected codons in FcγRI reveal novel biochemical binding properties

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Evolutionary analysis across 32 placental mammals identified positive selection at residues H148 and W149 in the immune receptor FcγR1. Ancestral reconstruction combined with molecular dynamics simulations reveals how these mutations may influence receptor structure and dynamics, providing insight into the evolution of antibody recognition and immune ...

Study on particle fragmentation evolution characteristics and contact reconstruction response characteristics at the steel–coal–rock interface in compressed structures [PDF]

open access: yesAIP Advances
The crushing and micro-contact characteristics of powdery particles at the compressed structural steel–coal–rock interface have an important impact on the micro-contact mechanical characteristics of the structural steel surface and the macro-contact and ...

In situ measurements of tropospheric volcanic plumes in Ecuador and Colombia during TC^4 [PDF]

open access: yes, 2011
A NASA DC-8 research aircraft penetrated tropospheric gas and aerosol plumes sourced from active volcanoes in Ecuador and Colombia during the Tropical Composition, Cloud and Climate Coupling (TC^4) mission in July–August 2007. The likely source volcanoes

Pharmacological inhibition of the PERK pathway modulates hepatocellular carcinoma growth and immune signaling

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Pharmacological inhibition of PERK in a DEN‐induced mouse model of liver cancer does not reduce tumor burden but alters cellular stress signaling. Despite blocking PERK activity, downstream stress responses, including CHOP expression, remain active, suggesting compensatory mechanisms within the unfolded protein response that may influence tumor ...

Treatment of end-of-life concrete in an innovative heating-air classification system for circular cement-based products [PDF]

open access: yes, 2020
A stronger commitment towards Green Building and circular economy, in response to environmental concerns and economic trends, is evident in modern industrial cement and concrete production processes.
