Development and characterizations of super-fine wool powder

Powder Technology, 2004
Abstract Wool powder was produced from wool fiber after pretreated with 0.5% NaClO solution and then it was cut into short pieces and ground with a special designed machine. Scanning electron microscopy (SEM) photos showed that super-fine wool powder around 2 μm can be produced from the fibers around 25 μm in diameter, and most of the powder was in ...

Effects of skirting on yield, fineness, and value of wool from fine-wool range ewes

Journal of Animal Science, 1992
Eighty-one mixed-age (2 to 8 yr old) Rambouillet ewes (58.5 kg, SD 5.9 kg) were randomly assigned to three treatment groups that contained similar numbers to study the effects of wool skirting on clean yield, fiber diameter, and prices received for fine wool. The sheep were managed as a single flock on an experimental ranch close to Barnhart, TX during

Some wool follicle and crimp parameters in fine-wool Tasmanian merinos

Australian Journal of Agricultural Research, 1969
Samples of wool and skin taken from the same animals were observed in finewool Tasmanian Merinos. It was found that highly crimped wool is produced by small follicles, follicle size being measured by the length of the chord or of the arc. It was also found that in animals on a high level of nutrition, high wool growth rate is ...

HISTOSTRUCTURE OF THE SKIN OF FINE-WOOL SHEEP BREEDS WITH DIFFERENT FINENESS OF WOOL

Agrarian Bulletin of the North Caucasus
The article presents an analysis of histological indices of the skin of fine-wool sheep breeds with different wool fineness. 75 % of the Manych merino rams had a wool fiber diameter of up to 23.09 μm (quality 64), 16.7 % – up to 17.95 μm (quality 80) and 8.3 % – 19.09 μm (quality 70).

Correlation Analysis of Microsatellite DNA Markers with Wool Traits in Liangshan Semi-fine Wool Sheep

HEREDITAS, 2006
Eighteen microsatellites on chromosomes 1, 2, 3, 9 were studied to detect their genotypes in 206 individuals in a Liangshan Semi-fine Wool Sheep nucleus breeding population. A GLM procedure was used to analyze the effects of these 18 microsatellites on wool traits. Results uncovered 7 loci that had a significant impact on wool traits. Genotypes of that

Some wool follicle characteristics in crossbreds between Egyptian coarse wool sheep and long and fine-wool breeds

The Journal of Agricultural Science, 1969
SUMMARYInternal and external follicle diameters of both primary and secondary follicles of Texel x Ossimi and Merino x Barki ewes were greater, at birth, than those in either respective parent breed; the density of primary follicles at birth was less in the cross-breds than in the parental breeds, for both crosses.
