Experiences with a Finger-Joint Prosthesis
The Journal of Bone & Joint Surgery, 1959A metal, hinged type of prosthesis has been developed for irreparably damaged joints of the finger in selected cases, as an alternative to amputation or arthrodesis. This operation, a procedure of salvage, is performed in the hope of restoring some degree of useful function in an otherwise useless part.

Compression Arthrodesis of Finger Joints
Clinical Orthopaedics and Related Research, 1979Compression arthrodesis is useful for treatment of finger and thumb joints in arthrosis, scleroderma, hypermobile joints, paralytic deformities, and rheumatoid arthritis. A dorsal incision exposes the joint. Its surfaces are prepared in a ball-and-socket arrangement using a high-speed burr.

ASAIO Journal, 1993
A new finger joint prosthesis is being developed for the proximal and distal interphalangeal positions. Currently available "joint spacer" prostheses provide relief from pain and cosmetic improvement, but relatively poor long-term function. The new prosthesis employs a mechanical hinge at the joint. It is fabricated from titanium alloy (6A14V).

Ankylosis in Osteoarthritis of the Finger Joints
Radiology, 1971The authors present four cases which demonstrate ankylosis as a complication of osteoarthritis. The ankylosis was apparent on clinical examination and was confirmed in lateral radiographs of the fingers which showed the joints to be bridged by tiny trabeculae.

ANATOMY OF THE JOINTS OF THE FINGERS
Hand Clinics, 1992The anatomy and function of the three joints within each finger are mutually complementary; none functions independently of the other two. A complex, yet precise, intrinsic and extrinsic soft-tissue support links these three joints and provides a precisely articulated balance for the mobility of the finger.

Management of the Traumatized Joint of the Finger
Clinics in Plastic Surgery, 1989Selection of the reconstructive technique for the traumatized joint requires a careful consideration of the condition of the injured and adjacent joints, the needs and desires of the patient, and an understanding of the advantages and disadvantages of the available options. The MP joint is the key to a useful arc of motion, providing 77 per cent of the

Fracture Dislocation of the Finger Joints
The Journal of Hand Surgery, 2014Fracture dislocations of the hand are difficult and often unforgiving injuries. Keys to treatment include early recognition, stable concentric reduction, and protected early active range of motion maintaining joint stability. The balance between stability and mobility is difficult to manage; therefore, surgeons need a wide array of treatments to tailor

METACARPOPHALANGEAL JOINT INJURIES IN FINGERS
Hand Clinics, 1992Although uncommon, injuries to the MP joints of fingers must not be ignored. A loss of function in even a single MP joint can seriously impair overall hand function. The potential dire consequences of these injuries can be avoided by an accurate diagnosis at the time of injury and the institution of appropriate treatment.

The Coordination of Finger-Joint Motions
The Journal of Bone & Joint Surgery, 1963An anatomical study of finger movements has been reviewed. It has been shown that the function of a muscle with respect to a certain joint cannot be inferred from the position of the muscle with respect to that one joint alone. In the fingers, especially, the tendons bridge more than one joint; a number of joints must be analyzed before it can be ...
