Trouble-Shooting in Finger-Jointing

1982
My company has had to investigate some of the problems concerned with finger-jointing for other reasons than those which normally bring about investigations by institutes. It has specialized on the production of a special type of finger-jointing cutter with cutting segments of solid carbide.

Hypoplasias and Aplasias of Finger Joints

1980
Joint hypoplasias and aplasias are characterized by congenital extension rigidity (Pol 1921, 1937). They may occur in isolation as well as in combination with other defects. They are always part of Apert syndrome (see Chap. 2.2) and are also seen in more severe malformations of the extremities such as ectrornelia, partial giantism, and ...

RESTORATION OF RHEUMATOID FINGER-JOINT FUNCTION

The Journal of Bone & Joint Surgery, 1963
Metallic hinged prostheses have been used in an attempt to restore some function to the metacarpophalangeal and proximal interphalangeal joints of fingers involved by rheumatoid arthritis. Indications for prosthetic replacement at the proximal interphalangeal joint are considered to be: (1) gross joint destruction, (2) persistent swan-neck deformity ...

The Structural Use of Finger-Jointing

1982
The paper looks at the parameters which affect the structural strength of finger-jointed timber, such as size and pitch of fingers, machining accuracy, manufacturing variables, adhesives, and links these with the requirements of structural use. Three different major uses are considered, namely standard structural sizes, glulam and the jointing of large

End Pressure for Finger-Jointing

1982
In the research described the significance of end pressure in the finger-jointing process was examined. The final strength of the finger-joint was also examined. Using three different finger lengths, varying finger tightness, slope of jointing and finger form, as well as 4 different end pressures. The strength was measured by a bending test.
