Response to neoadjuvant chemotherapy in early breast cancers is associated with epithelial–mesenchymal transition and tumor‐infiltrating lymphocytes

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Epithelial–mesenchymal transition (EMT) and tumor‐infiltrating lymphocytes (TILs) are associated with early breast cancer response to neoadjuvant chemotherapy (NAC). This study evaluated EMT and TIL shifts, with immunofluorescence and RNA sequencing, at diagnosis and in residual tumors as potential biomarkers associated with treatment response.

Double-V block fingers with cruciform recess [PDF]

open access: yes, 1993
In a robot having a gripper including a pair of fingers and a drive motor for driving the fingers toward and away from one another while the fingers remain parallel to each other, the fingers consist of finger pads, which interface with a handle on an ...

Hand and foot pressures in the aye-aye (Daubentonia madagascariensis) reveal novel biomechanical trade-offs required for walking on gracile digits [PDF]

open access: yes, 2010
Arboreal animals with prehensile hands must balance the complex demands of bone strength, grasping and manipulation. An informative example of this problem is that of the aye-aye (Daubentonia madagascariensis), a rare lemuriform primate that is unusual ...

Finger sarcoidosis

open access: yesJournal of the Belgian Society of Radiology, 2011
Background: A 47-year-old Caucasian woman presented with progressive swelling and pain of her left 5th digit over the previous couple of months. She is known to have sarcoidosis for 13 years and developed a painful swollen little finger 9 years ago when it was biopsied and confirmed as sarcoidosis.

Photolithographic fabrication of high-performance all-solid-state graphene-based planar micro-supercapacitors with different interdigital fingers

open access: yes, 2014
Here we demonstrated the fabrication of ultrahigh rate, all-solid-state, planar interdigital graphene-based micro-supercapacitors (MSCs) manufactured by methane plasma-assisted reduction and photolithographic micro-fabrication of graphene oxide films on ...

Erratum to “New Optical Methods for Liveness Detection on Fingers”

open access: yesBioMed Research International, 2014
This paper is devoted to new optical methods, which are supposed to be used for liveness detection on fingers. First we describe the basics about fake finger use in fingerprint recognition process and the possibilities of liveness detection.

Peripheral blood proteome biomarkers distinguish immunosuppressive features of cancer progression

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Immune status significantly influences cancer progression. This study used plasma proteomics to analyze benign 67NR and malignant 4T1 breast tumor models at early and late tumor stages. Immune‐related proteins–osteopontin (Spp1), lactotransferrin (Ltf), calreticulin (Calr) and peroxiredoxin 2 (Prdx2)–were associated with systemic myeloid‐derived ...

Rehabilitation of missing digit using customized attachment supported prosthesis

open access: yesThe Journal of Indian Prosthodontic Society, 2019
Traumatic amputation of a finger leads to psychological instability, functional loss, and poor esthetics. When surgical reconstruction in patients is not possible, prosthesis provides psychological, functional, rehabilitative, and esthetic restoration ...

Steadily translating parabolic dissolution fingers

open access: yes, 2015
Dissolution fingers (or wormholes) are formed during the dissolution of a porous rock as a result of nonlinear feedbacks between the flow, transport and chemical reactions at pore surfaces.
