Finitary Simple Lie Algebras [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Algebra, 1999
Let \(V\) be a vector space over a field \(F\). A subalgebra of \({\mathfrak {gl}}(V)\) is called finitary if it consists of finite-rank transformations. The main theorem presents a classification of infinite dimensional central finitary simple Lie algebras over \(F\) in the case of characteristic zero.

Finitary Lie algebras [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Algebra, 2002
A Lie algebra is called finitary if it consists of finite-rank linear transformations of a vector space. The authors classify all infinite-dimensional finitary simple Lie algebras over an algebraically closed field of characteristic not 2 or 3. They also do the same for finitary irreducible Lie algebras.

Poisson structures on finitary incidence algebras [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Algebra, 2021
We give a full description of the Poisson structures on the finitary incidence algebra $FI(P,R)$ of an arbitrary poset $P$ over a commutative unital ring $R$.

Local derivations of finitary incidence algebras [PDF]

open access: yesActa Mathematica Hungarica, 2017
Let $P$ be a partially ordered set, $R$ a commutative ring with identity and $FI(P,R)$ the finitary incidence algebra of $P$ over $R$. In this note we prove that each $R$-linear local derivation of $FI(P,R)$ is a derivation, which partially generalizes a result by Nowicki and Nowosad.

Involutions of the Second Kind on Finitary Incidence Algebras

open access: yesBulletin of the Brazilian Mathematical Society, 2023
Let $K$ be a field and $X$ a connected partially ordered set. In the first part of this paper, we show that the finitary incidence algebra $FI(X,K)$ of $X$ over $K$ has an involution of the second kind if and only if $X$ has an involution and $K$ has an automorphism of order $2$. We also give a characterization of the involutions of the second kind on $

The Jordan socle and finitary Lie algebras

open access: yesJournal of Algebra, 2004
The goal of the paper under review is to study simple finitary Lie algebras and their algebras of derivations by using methods from the theory of Jordan systems. (We refer to the paper, which is clearly written, for the relevant definitions.) In a related paper [Commun. Algebra 32, No.

Finitary Algebraic Logic

Mathematical Logic Quarterly, 1989
This paper presents a few results on the following imprecise problem: Is it possible to construct a finitely axiomatizable finitary algebraic logic (based upon finitely many finitary operations on relations of finite dimension)? The system \({\mathcal L}^{\times}\) from ``A formalization of set theory without variables'' (1988) by \textit{A.
