Switchable Supramolecular Adhesive by Tuning Interfacial Bonding and Modulus

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
The supramolecular adhesive (HyDiP) shows reversible adhesion and recyclability. In the dehydrated state, it is dense, stiff (E ≈445 MPa), transparent, and provides strong bonding with adhesion strengths up to 4.65 MPa. In the hydrated state, it becomes porous, soft (E ≈0.11 MPa), and detaches easily, enabling sustainable high‐strength applications ...

Ambient Vibration Based Model Updating Effects on the Earthquake Response of Tall Buildings [PDF]

open access: yes, 2016
The study investigates ambient vibration based model updating effects on the seismic behaviour of a RC tall building subjected to far and near-fault ground motions. A 17-storey building built in Giresun, Turkey is selected as an application.

Chiral Acoustic Phonon and Conservation of Pseudoangular Momentum in α‐Quartz

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
Chiral acoustic phonons in α‐quartz are probed via Brillouin light scattering, exploiting the photon's helicity and the crystal's handedness. The interaction obeys a selection rule arising from pseudoangular momentum conservation, enabling direct optical access to phonon chirality in nonsymmorphic crystals.

Structural Simulation Model Updating Based on Improved MCMC Algorithm and Surrogate Model

open access: yesShanghai Jiaotong Daxue xuebao
To enhance the accuracy of finite element model simulation, a model updating method based on Bayesian theory is proposed, and the updating efficiency is improved by integrating improved Markov chain Monte Carlo (MCMC) algorithm and surrogate model.

Opportunities of Semiconducting Oxide Nanostructures as Advanced Luminescent Materials in Photonics

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
The review discusses the challenges of wide and ultrawide bandgap semiconducting oxides as a suitable material platform for photonics. They offer great versatility in terms of tuning microstructure, native defects, doping, anisotropy, and micro‐ and nano‐structuring. The review focuses on their light emission, light‐confinement in optical cavities, and

Damage Detection Using Finite Element Model Updating

open access: yesJournal of Ocean Engineering and Technology, 2012
In this study, a damage detection method that uses sensitivity-based finite (FE) element model updating with the natural frequency and zero frequency was proposed. The stiffness matrix for a structure was modified using the sensitivity-based FE model updating method.
