Investigation of conforming mixed finite elements with quadratic pressure approximations
Kaliakin, Victor N.To simulate the response of saturated geomaterials requires a numerical approach such as the finite element method that employs a generalized Biot formulation.

Common and Unusual Finite Elements
This chapter provides a glimpse of the considerable range of finite elements in the literature. Many of the elements presented here are implemented as part of the FEniCS project already; some are future work.

Experimental Characterization of Mycelium‐Based Composites Under Multiple Loading Conditions
This study examines the mechanical response of mycelium‐based composites under compression, shear, and tension using mechanical testing and imaging methods. The comparison between unpressed and hot‐pressed specimens shows that hot pressing is associated with higher compression and shear stiffnesses.

Finite and infinite element method applied to water wave diffraction problems [PDF]
In this work, three types of infinite elements are developed to solve the problem of linear water wave diffraction by objects in a 2D unbounded domain. The infinite elements, which model the far field wave potential stretching to infinity, are coupled to

Special exact curved finite elements [PDF]
summary:Special exact curved finite elements useful for solving contact problems of the second order in domains boundaries of which consist of a finite number of circular ares and a finite number of line segments are introduced and the interpolation ...

This work shows that the mechanical performance of multimaterial digital light processing (DLP) printed thermoset composites is governed by resin compatibility and interfacial design rather than spatial patterning alone. Brittle and ductile resin combinations produced premature interfacial failure, while graded interfaces and mechanically compatible ...

Structural Integrity of Functionally Graded Composite Structure using Mindlin-Type Finite Elements. [PDF]
In this paper, two new Mindlin-type plate bending elements have been derived for the modelling of functionally graded plate subjected to various loading conditions such as tensile loading, in-plane bending and out-of-plane bending.

Special Finite Elements Used in Reinforced Concrete Analysis [PDF]
Finite element method was developed to be applied in case of the elastic materials. If this method is applied on reinforced concrete elements and structures, the results are affected by errors because this material doesn’t have an elastic behavior on ...
