COMPUTER EXPERIMENTS WITH FINITE ELEMENTS OF HIGHER ORDER
The paper deals with the problem of constructing the basic functions of a quadrilateral finite element of the fifth order by the means of the computer algebra system Maple. The Lagrangian approximation of such a finite element contains 36 nodes: 20 nodes

Finite ma corrections for sea quark matrix elements
We discuss the finite $ma$ corrections associated with the computation of sea quark matrix elements. We find them to differ from the standard normalization used for valence quarks and to depend strongly on the Lorentz structure of the current under ...

Numerical Exploration of Thermal Shock Resistance in MgO–C Refractories
A mesostructure‐resolved numerical framework is developed to evaluate the thermal shock resistance of MgO–C refractories. By modeling interface debonding under rapid temperature changes and introducing a modified thermal shock parameter that accounts for mesocracks, the study shows how graphite content and aggregate size influence thermal shock ...

Finite elements apparatus in thin-walled rods dynamics problems
The calculation of thin-walled rods is extremely relevant problem of structural mechanics and not only from the scientific standpoint, but also due to the widespread use of so-called lightweight thin-walled steel structures for construction engineering ...

Production of MgO/TiC Composites From MgO‐C Recyclates Using Spark Plasma Sintering
Using the spark plasma sintering technique, MgO/TiC composites are manufactured from recycled MgO‐C refractories stemming from the steel production that were mixed with titanium powder. This article shows, how the size of the Ti grains and their distribution in the powder mixture affect the local carbon concentration in TiC.

Studying a dental pathology by finite elements
Abfractives lesions or abfractions are non-cavity lesions of dental structures in which a biomechanical factor has been identified as being the most probable cause for it occurring.

Generating Random Elements of Finite Distributive Lattices
This survey article describes a method for choosing uniformly at random from any finite set whose objects can be viewed as constituting a distributive lattice. The method is based on ideas of the author and David Wilson for using ``coupling from the past'

Bioinspired Shape‐Memory Hook Fasteners With Programmable Interlocking and Silent Release
Bioinspired hook fasteners made from epoxy shape‐memory polymers are shown to switch between strong, secure attachment and gentle, silent release when heated. By combining programmable geometry and material response, these adaptive fasteners outperform commercial systems in strength and noise control, enabling new solutions for robotics, medical ...
