Developments in noncommutative differential geometry [PDF]
One of the great outstanding problems of theoretical physics is the quantisation of gravity, and an associated description of quantum spacetime. It is often argued that, at short distances, the manifold structure of spacetime breaks down and is replaced ...

The physical dimensions and shape of bacterial cells define the surface area available to acquire nutrients and the volume available for synthesizing proteins and DNA. Here, we use computational systems biology to decode the importance of cell geometry as a major determinant of prokaryotic phenotype, including growth rate and metabolic efficiency. This

Development of Initial Blank Geometry in Sheet Metal Forming Processes Using Finite Element Analysis
Sheet metal parts have a wide usage are due to their weight/strength ratio. Process design is a critical step for sheet metal forming processes. Determining initial blank geometry is crucial for process design.

Direct modification of semanticaly-enriched finite element meshes [PDF]
Behaviour analysis loop is largely performed on virtual product model before its physical manufacturing. The last avoids high expenses in terms of money and time spent on intermediate manufacturing.

Information Geometry, Jordan Algebras, and a Coadjoint Orbit-Like Construction
Jordan algebras arise naturally in (quantum) information geometry, and we want to understand their role and their structure within that framework. Inspired by Kirillov's discussion of the symplectic structure on coadjoint orbits, we provide a similar ...

Predicting extreme defects in additive manufacturing remains a key challenge limiting its structural reliability. This study proposes a statistical framework that integrates Extreme Value Theory with advanced process indicators to explore defect–process relationships and improve the estimation of critical defect sizes. The approach provides a basis for

Polynomials in Finite Geometries [PDF]
A method of using polynomials to describe objects in finite geometries is outlined and the problems where this method has led to a solution are surveyed. These problems concern nuclei, affine blocking sets, maximal arcs and unitals. In the case of nuclei these methods give lower bounds on the number of nuclei to a set of points in ...

This study presents a reversible temperature sensor with high switching ratio, ∼103. The device is fabricated using PET‐ITO and carbon nanotube dispersions in alkane. Considering its application in cold chain logistics, a proof‐of‐concept with LED is showcased. Thus, a temperature drop below the threshold temperature (crystallization temperature of the

A numerical–experimental framework is developed for characterizing multi‐matrix fiber‐reinforced polymers (MM‐FRPs) combining epoxy and polyurethane matrices. Harmonic bending tests are integrated with finite element model updating (FEMU) to simultaneously identify elastic and viscoelastic material parameters.

Inhomogeneous dielectrics: conformal mapping and finite-element models
Field singularities in electrostatic and magnetostatic fields require special attention in field calculations, and today finite element methods are normally used, both in homogeneous and in inhomogeneous dielectric cases.
