Finite time stability of nonlinear systems

42nd IEEE International Conference on Decision and Control (IEEE Cat. No.03CH37475), 2004
Finite time stability is defined for non autonomous non linear systems. Starting with the proof of an old result from Haimo which gives necessary and sufficient condition for autonomous scalar systems, then we extend this result to n-dimensional systems through the use of Liapunov functions and (here the obtained results are less restrictives).

The finite-time stability of perturbed systems

2012 IEEE International Conference on Control Applications, 2012
This paper deals with the finite-time stability of dynamic perturbed systems. The Lyapunov stability case is studied for nonautonomous systems and where the autonomous part is considered as finite-time stable and augmented by a separable function related to time-varying perturbations.

A finite-time stability concept and conditions for finite-time and exponential stability of controlled nonlinear systems

2006 American Control Conference, 2006
This paper introduces a finite-time stability concept for nonlinear systems and the corresponding notion of stabilizability of controls. The concept generalizes previous finite-time stability as it requires that the state trajectory satisfies a given bound at some time instant in a certain interval, whereas previous notions considers that the system ...

Finite-time stability and stabilization of switched linear systems

Proceedings of the 48h IEEE Conference on Decision and Control (CDC) held jointly with 2009 28th Chinese Control Conference, 2009
In this paper, finite-time stability and stabilization problems for switched linear systems are discussed. Firstly, the concept of finite-time stability is extended to switched linear systems. Then, based on the state transition matrix of the system, a necessary and sufficient condition for finite-time stability of switched linear systems is presented.

Finite-Time Stability and Stabilization of a Class of Nonlinear Time-Delay Systems

SIAM Journal on Control and Optimization, 2012
This paper investigates the finite-time stability (FTS) and stabilization for a class of nonlinear time-delay systems and proposes some new results. First, an equivalent form is presented for the systems by a coordinate transformation, and a criterion on the FTS is obtained for nonlinear time-delay systems via the Razumikhin approach ($R$-approach ...

The stability of ecosystems—A finite-time approach

Journal of Theoretical Biology, 1977
Abstract The objective of this paper is to present some concepts of stability which originate from ecological considerations, discuss their relationship with existing concepts of stability, and furthermore to establish sufficient conditions for stability which are both robust in the sense of Levins and Slobodkin, and constructive.

Finite-time stabilization of uncertain MIMO systems

53rd IEEE Conference on Decision and Control, 2007
Any uncertain smooth multi-input multi-output dynamic system of a full relative degree can be locally finitetime stabilized at its equilibrium point by means of a standard continuous feedback, provided an approximation of the partial-derivatives' matrix of highest order total output derivatives with respect to controls is available. Homogeneous sliding-

Finite-time stability of cascaded time-varying systems

International Journal of Control, 2007
The uniform global finite-time stability is discussed for a cascaded time-varying system consisting of two uniformly finite-time stable subsystems. It is shown that a forward completeness condition is enough to ensure the uniform global finite-time stability of the system.
