An isomorphism theorem for finitely additive measures [PDF]

open access: yesProceedings of the American Mathematical Society, 1955
A problem which is appealing to the intuition in view of the relative frequency interpretation of probability is to define a measure on a countable space which assigns to each point the measure 0. Such a measure of course becomes trivial if it is countably additive. Finitely additive measures of this type have been discussed by R. C. Buck [I] and by E.

Normal‐Appearing White Matter Injury Mediates Chronic Deep Venous Hypoxia and Disease Progression in Multiple Sclerosis

open access: yesAnnals of Clinical and Translational Neurology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Objective To explore how cerebral hypoxia and Normal‐Appearing White Matter (NAWM) integrity affect MS lesion burden and clinical course. Methods Seventy‐nine MS patients, including 13 clinically isolated syndrome (CIS) patients and 66 relapsing–remitting multiple sclerosis (RRMS) patients, and 44 healthy controls (HCs) were recruited from ...

The least core, kernel and bargaining sets of large games [PDF]

open access: yes, 1998
We study the least core, the kernel and bargaining sets of coalitional games with a countable set of players. We show that the least core of a continuous superadditive game with a countable set of players is a non-empty (norm-compact) subset of the space

A Q‐Learning Algorithm to Solve the Two‐Player Zero‐Sum Game Problem for Nonlinear Systems

open access: yesInternational Journal of Adaptive Control and Signal Processing, Volume 39, Issue 3, Page 566-581, March 2025.
A Q‐learning algorithm to solve the two‐player zero‐sum game problem for nonlinear systems. ABSTRACT This paper deals with the two‐player zero‐sum game problem, which is a bounded L2$$ {L}_2 $$‐gain robust control problem. Finding an analytical solution to the complex Hamilton‐Jacobi‐Issacs (HJI) equation is a challenging task.

Adaptive Observer for Coupled Wave PDE and Infinite ODE With Sampled Data and Unknown Input: Application to Brain Hemodynamics Estimation

open access: yesInternational Journal of Adaptive Control and Signal Processing, EarlyView.
This article proposes a convergent adaptive observer for a damped wave PDE and an infinite‐dimensional ODE coupled in cascade using sampled‐in‐space ODE state measurements. The proposed observer estimates the distributed states of the PDE and ODE along with unknown PDE parameters and spatial input.

On invariant finitely additive measures for automorphism groups acting on tori [PDF]

open access: yes, 1985
Consider the natural action of a subgroup H of GL(n, Z) on Tn. We relate the H-invariant finitely additive measures on (Tn, L) where L is the class of all Lebesgue measurable sets, to invariant subtori C such that the H-action on either C or Tn/C factors

Characterization of Defect Distribution in an Additively Manufactured AlSi10Mg as a Function of Processing Parameters and Correlations with Extreme Value Statistics

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Predicting extreme defects in additive manufacturing remains a key challenge limiting its structural reliability. This study proposes a statistical framework that integrates Extreme Value Theory with advanced process indicators to explore defect–process relationships and improve the estimation of critical defect sizes. The approach provides a basis for

Outer measures, measurability, and lattice regular measures

open access: yesInternational Journal of Mathematics and Mathematical Sciences, 1996
Let X be an arbitrary non-empty set, and ℒ a lattice of subsets of X such that ∅, X∈ℒ. 𝒜(ℒ) denotes the algebra generated by ℒ and I(ℒ) those zero-one valued, non-trivial, finitely additive measures on 𝒜(ℒ)Iσ(ℒ) denotes those elements of I(ℒ) that are σ ...

Carboxylic‐Acid Functionalized Multiwalled Carbon Nanotube‐Alkane‐Based Resistive Temperature Sensor for Cold Chain Applications

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
This study presents a reversible temperature sensor with high switching ratio, ∼103. The device is fabricated using PET‐ITO and carbon nanotube dispersions in alkane. Considering its application in cold chain logistics, a proof‐of‐concept with LED is showcased. Thus, a temperature drop below the threshold temperature (crystallization temperature of the

Special measures and repleteness

open access: yesInternational Journal of Mathematics and Mathematical Sciences, 1993
Let X be an abstract set and ℒ a lattice of subsets of X. To each lattice-regular measure μ, we associate two induced measures μ⌢ and μ˜ on suitable lattices of the Wallman space IR(ℒ) and another measure μ′ on the space IRσ(ℒ).
