The FIP and Inverse-FIP Effects in Solar Flares [PDF]
Abstract The inverse first ionization potential (FIP) effect, the depletion in the coronal abundance of elements like Fe, Mg, and Si that are ionized in the solar chromosphere relative to those that are neutral, has been identified in several solar flares.

There is no doubt that FAIR Data and Services (GO FAIR Foundation 2019b) are needed to enable data intensive research and innovation. While the FAIR Guiding Principles (Wilkinson et al. 2016) specify the expected behaviors of digital artifacts they do not specify the technology choices actualizing these behaviors, leaving maximum freedom to operate for

FIP Effect and FIP-Dependent Bias in the Solar Corona [PDF]
Using EUV spectra of an active region observed off the solar disk by the SOHO/SUMER spectrograph on the SOHO spacecraft, we investigate the dependence of the FIP effect on the height above the photosphere, and its relation to plasma magnetic structures present in the field of view.

The FIP and Inverse FIP Effects in Solar and Stellar Coronae [PDF]
We review our state of knowledge of coronal element abundance anomalies in the Sun and stars. We concentrate on the first ionization potential (FIP) effect observed in the solar corona and slow-speed wind, and in the coronae of solar-like dwarf stars, and the "inverse FIP" effect seen in the corona of stars of later spectral type; specifically M dwarfs.

Fips: An OpenGL based FITS viewer [PDF]
Abstract FITS (Flexible Image Transport System) is a common format for astronomical data storage. [1]. Even though astronomical data is now processed mostly using software, visual data inspection by a human is still important during equipment or software commissioning and while observing.

ELISA for the serology of FIP virus
An enzyme linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA) for feline infectious peritonitis (FIP) virus serology is described. The assay is analogous to a previously developed indirect heterologous immunofluorescence test (IFT) in which transmissible gastroenteritis (TGE) viral antigen was used. Comparative testing of selected feline sera in both assays resulted in

A Unified Picture of the FIP and Inverse FIP Effects
We discuss models for coronal abundance anomalies observed in the coronae of the sun and other late-type stars following a scenario first introduced by Schwadron, Fisk & Zurbuchen of the interaction of waves at loop footpoints with the partially neutral gas. Instead of considering wave heating of ions in this location, we explore the effects on the
