Selective toxicityof acetamiprid and fipronil as a part of insecticidal baits
Monocomponent and combined insecticidal baits containing acetamiprid and fipronil are proposed to control the housefly Musca domestica at livestock facilities. The combination of active ingredients increases the insecticidal activity of formulations and simultaneously may lead to an increase in their toxicity to animals. The purpose of this work was to

The current study evaluated the potential of termite cuticular extract to improve the efficacy of commercial bait used for controlling invasive Asian needle ants. Results of laboratory trials demonstrate that the attractiveness of commercial bait is significantly increased by the addition of termite cuticular extract.

FIELD TRIALS WITH CERTAIN ENTOMOPATHOGENS AND INSECTICIDES AGAINST BERSEEM GRASSHOPPER Euprepocnemis plorans (CHARP.) (ORTOPTERA: ACRIDIDAE) [PDF]
Three field trials were conducted to evaluate three entomopathogens (Metarhizium acridum, Beauveria bassiana and Nosema locustae) and two chemical insecticides (Indoxacarb and Fipronil) against berseem grasshoppers Euprepocnemis plorans (Charp.). Results

Abstract Infectious diseases pose a significant threat to global health and biodiversity. Yet, predicting the spatiotemporal dynamics of wildlife epizootics remains challenging. Disease outbreaks result from complex nonlinear interactions among a large collection of variables that rarely adhere to the assumptions of parametric regression modeling.

The use of Attractive Toxic Baits (ATBs) is considered to be a low-risk practical method for controlling cockroaches. This study evaluates the attractiveness of a lab-made, fipronil-containing bait, and its effect on the food consumption and mortality of the German cockroach Blattella germanica, under field and laboratory conditions.

Genetic Basis for Resistance to Gel Baits, Fipronil, and Sugar-Based Attractants in German Cockroaches (Dictyoptera: Blattellidae) [PDF]
A gel bait-resistant Blattella germanica (L.) strain (Cincy) was collected in Cincinnati, OH, in 2003. This strain exhibited strong behavioral resistance to Avert (0.05% abamectin), Maxforce FC (0.01% fipronil), and Pre-Empt (2.15% imidacloprid) gel baits. Reciprocal mass crosses and back crosses between the Cincy strain and a susceptible strain (Jwax)

Laboratory colonies of the ghost ant, Tapinoma melanocephalum (F.) were administered sugar solution (10%) baits containing the insecticides boric acid, fipronil (REGENT), hydramethylnon (SIEGE), or diflubenzuron (DIMILN). Colonies were exposed to the baits for 21 d, and development of workers, queens, and brood (larvae and pupae) was observed for 4 wk.
