Firing Frequency of Leaky Intergrate-and-fire Neurons with Synaptic Current Dynamics

Journal of Theoretical Biology, 1998
We consider a model of an integrate-and-fire neuron with synaptic current dynamics, in which the synaptic time constant tau' is much smaller than the membrane time constant tau. We calculate analytically the firing frequency of such a neuron for inputs described by a random Gaussian process.

Predicting Fire Frequency with Chemistry and Climate [PDF]

open access: yesEcosystems, 2012
A predictive equation for estimating fire frequency was developed from theories and data in physical chemistry, ecosystem ecology, and climatology. We refer to this equation as the Physical Chemistry Fire Frequency Model (PC2FM). The equation was calibrated and validated with North American fire data (170 sites) prior to widespread industrial ...

Impact of Forest Fire Frequency on Tree Diversity and Species Regeneration in Tropical Dry Deciduous Forest of Panna Tiger Reserve, Madhya Pradesh, India

, 2020
The current study analyzes the tree diversity and regeneration status of species between repeated forest fires and unburned areas of the tropical dry deciduous forest of Panna Tiger Reserve (PTR), Madhya Pradesh, Central India.

Model of the firing frequency of the chelonian muscle spindle

Biological Cybernetics, 1976
A model is proposed for the frequency of firing of the chelonian muscle spindle in response to mechanical stretches. First an attempt is made to fit the response to a first and second order model and, after incorporating the encoding properties of the spindle, a simulation is obtained which predicts in terms of the instantaneous frequency of firing the

A simple neuronal model with intrinsic saturation of the firing frequency

Biosystems, 2022
We present a comparison of the intrinsic saturation of firing frequency in four simple neural models: leaky integrate-and-fire model, leaky integrate-and-fire model with reversal potentials, two-point leaky integrate-and-fire model, and a two-point leaky integrate-and-fire model with reversal potentials.

Methods of estimation of fire frequences, personal safety and fire damage

Fire Safety Journal, 1980
This article presents a method for calculating probabilities and a suggestion for a functional method to calculate the effect of detectors, sprinklers and fire brigade efforts on a fire. Effects on evacuation of people and on the size of the fire are discussed.

Fire Risk Requantification Study — Fire Ignition Frequencies

2004
Fire ignition frequency is the first quantitative measure of fire risk. Different models have been employed by the industry to estimate the frequency of fire occurrence at different locations within a plant. Earlier models provided frequencies by building type (e.g., auxiliary building and turbine building) and specific rooms (e.g., control room and ...

Proceedings of the 7th ACM International Conference on Systems for Energy-Efficient Buildings, Cities, and Transportation, 2020
As more and more homes are equipped with smart electricity meters, home owners gain the ability to monitor their total electricity consumption on a daily or hourly basis. Techniques such as load forecasting, load disaggregation, and activity recognition try to provide even better insights into our electricity consumption, highlight saving potential or ...

Aboveground forest carbon shows different responses to fire frequency in harvested and unharvested forests.

Ecological Applications, 2018
Sequestration of carbon in forest ecosystems has been identified as an effective strategy to help mitigate the effects of global climate change. Prescribed burning and timber harvesting are two common, co-occurring, forest management practices that may ...

Biotic controls on Holocene fire frequency in a temperate mountain forest, Czech Republic

Journal of Quaternary Science, 2018
Mountain spruce–beech–fir mixed forests are an important type of vegetation at higher elevations in temperate Europe. We aimed to determine how fire disturbances have affected long‐term vegetation dynamics and to assess their contribution to soil ...
