AbstractStanding dead trees, or snags, are an important habitat element for many animal species. In many ecosystems, fire is a primary driver of snag population dynamics because it can both create and consume snags. The objective of this study was to examine how variation in two key components of the fire regime—fire-return interval and season of burn ...

A Magnetic‐Driven Self‐Rotation‐Stabilized Miniature Swimming Robot
Inspired by the stable rotational descent of seeds in nature, this study designs a magnetic‐driven self‐rotation‐stabilized miniature swimming robot (MSMSR). Based on a resonance‐driven strategy, the robot exhibits high swimming performance, offering enhanced directional swimming and improved resistance to water flow disturbances compared to existing ...

Many plant species are well-adapted to historical fire regimes. An increase in the severity, frequency, and extent of wildfires could compromise the regenerative capacity of species, resulting in permanent shifts in plant diversity.

Two‐photon calcium imaging in behaving 5xFAD mice reveals early CA1 coding deficits before behavioral decline. Task‐related place cell activity and splitter cell trajectory coding are impaired, with reduced retrospective dominance and greater prospective weighting.

Sleep disturbance severity closely tracks hearing loss in a clinical cohort, yet the mechanistic link remains unclear. Acute sleep deprivation is shown to trigger transient cochlear oxidative stress that switches into a self‐sustaining neuroinflammatory state, suppressing BK channels and causing irreversible synaptopathy.
