Spatiotemporal Dynamics and Drivers of Anthropogenic Fires in Northern China’s Agri-Pastoral Ecotone
Anthropogenic fires in agro-pastoral ecotones are understudied. Using Ordos data (1987–2020) and machine learning, we identified fire drivers and patterns.

Holocene vegetation change and fire–plant diversity shifts in Mediterranean France
ABSTRACT Changes in fire activity are recognized as a major threat to biodiversity and vegetation communities across the Mediterranean Basin. However, long‐term fire–vegetation interactions remain poorly investigated. Here, we combine a high‐resolution charcoal record with pollen data from the “Étang des Aulnes” lake (southern France) to reconstruct ...

Wave of fire: an anthropogenic signal in historical fire regimes across central Pennsylvania, USA
Increasingly detailed records of long‐term fire regime characteristics are needed to test ecological concepts and inform natural resource management and policymaking. We reconstructed and analyzed twelve 350+ yr‐long fire scar records developed from 2612

First report on the soil seed bank damage due to fire at the Rohingya refugee camps in Bangladesh
Abstract Background The composition, density, and damage of the soil seed bank were studied at Kutupalong Rohingya refugee camp (the world's largest refugee settlement), Ukhiya, Cox's Bazar, Bangladesh, after a major human‐induced fire on March 22, 2021, causing huge damage to human lives, settlements, and the ecosystem.

Caribou forage lichens were present in post‐burn lodgepole pine stands multiple decades before stem‐density was likely open enough to attract wintering caribou. We posit that the prolonged self‐thinning of lodgepole pine after fire may be a greater limiting factor than lichen abundance for habitat recovery in lodgepole pine forests.

Widespread biophysical cooling effects due to post-fire greening
Wildfires and greening are two important biophysical processes that influence land surface-climate feedback patterns. However, the impact of post-fire greening, which primarily reflects canopy structural recovery, on land surface temperature (LST ...

Northern bobwhites associated with native grass and shrubs have improved survival
Survival rates of adult northern bobwhites were improved by a combination of grazed native warm‐season grasses and well‐interspersed shrubs. Our study suggests that incorporating native warm‐season grass cattle forages into existing operations across the southeastern United States may be a viable working‐lands conservation strategy to create habitat ...
