Nutritional and reproductive dynamics of moose near their southern range limit

open access: yesThe Journal of Wildlife Management, Volume 90, Issue 5, July 2026.
Though southern moose (Alces alces) had relatively low seasonal fluctuations in body fat, their condition was positively associated with pregnancy and adult survival but did not influence recruitment of young. We demonstrated clear signs of nutritional limitation and unexpected patterns of reproductive performance that may be unique to moose living at ...

Bridging data gaps: Evidence‐based population assessment for an endemic amphibian of conservation concern

open access: yesThe Journal of Wildlife Management, Volume 90, Issue 5, July 2026.
Plethodon welleri exhibits strong seasonal shifts in elevational activity with abundance and occupancy being linked to terrain characteristics. Despite historical habitat assumptions, P. welleri occurs in a broad range of forest types across a larger elevation gradient. Photo Credit to Maxwell Ramey.

Optimizing Selective RF Pulses for Enhanced Signal Stability in Turbo Spin Echo Using a Differentiable Extended Phase Graph Model

open access: yesMagnetic Resonance in Medicine, Volume 96, Issue 1, Page 214-226, July 2026.
ABSTRACT Purpose To improve slice profile consistency across echo trains in turbo spin echo (TSE) imaging, thereby reducing image blurring and increasing the accuracy of multi echo spin echo T2$$ {T}_2 $$ mapping. Methods Excitation and refocusing RF pulses were optimized for TSE using a differentiable extended phase graph model that incorporates the ...

Trauma‐Informed Language Teaching: Considerations, Challenges and Possibilities

open access: yesLanguage and Linguistics Compass, Volume 20, Issue 4, July/August 2026.
ABSTRACT Trauma has been front of mind for many language teachers in the tumultuous first decades of the 21st century, but until quite recently, language teaching research that names trauma as such has been relatively scarce. In this short paper, I give a brief overview of different understandings of trauma, and draw on orienting principles and ...

Infrared Spectroscopy of Amide Modes in Peptides: Experimental FTIR and QM/MM Protocol Insights

open access: yesChemPhysChem, Volume 27, Issue 11, 15 June 2026.
A multiscale QM/MM framework unlocks the structural code hidden in peptide IR spectra. By treating the sensitive amide vibrations quantum‐mechanically within a realistic protein environment, we accurately simulate spectral features, directly linking vibrational fingerprints to secondary structure and conformational dynamics.
