Inhibition of SLC11A1‐Mediated Lysosomal Iron Accumulation in Microglia Promotes Repair Following White Matter Stroke

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Genetic and pharmacological inhibition of SLC11A1 functioning as an H+/Fe2+ antiporter–mediated lysosomal iron accumulation in microglia promotes lysosomal lumen acidification, increases CTSD expression, enhances lysosomal myelin debris uptake and degradation, and promotes repair following white matter stroke. ABSTRACT White matter stroke (WMS) results

Stochastic Programs with First-Order Dominance Constraints Induced by Mixed-Integer Linear Recourse

open access: yes, 2007
We propose a new class of stochastic integer programs whose special features are dominance constraints induced by mixed-integer linear recourse. For these models, we establish closedness of theconstraint set mapping with the underlying probability measure as parameter.

The probability that two random points on the $n$-probability simplex are comparable with respect to the first order stochastic dominance and the monotone likelihood ratio partial orders

open access: yes, 2019
First order stochastic dominance and monotone likelihood ratio are two partial orders on the $n$-probability simplex that play an important role in the establishment of structural results for MDPs and POMDPs. We study the strength of those partial orders in terms of how likely it is for two random points on the $n$-probability simplex to be comparable ...

Hepatocyte Mettl3 Deficiency Drives Primary Sclerosing Cholangitis and Liver Fibrosis via Cholangiocyte‐Macrophage Crosstalk

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Schematic illustration demonstrating that hepatic Mettl3 depletion significantly elevates the secretion of Mif and Csf1. This elevation facilitates Trem2+ macrophage infiltration and triggers cholangiocyte remodeling through the Spp1‐Cd44 interaction, resulting in spontaneous PSC development in vivo.

Testing Distributional Inequalities and Asymptotic Bias [PDF]

open access: yes
When Barret and Donald (2003) in Econometrica proposed a consistent test of stochastic dominance, they were silent about the asymptotic unbiasedness of their tests against √n-converging Pitman local alternatives.

Initial Distance‐Dependent Mean Force Drives Synaptic Vesicle Motion Toward Fusion Sites in Stimulated Hippocampal Neurons

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Synaptic vesicle (SV) motion and exocytosis dynamics in the presynaptic terminals of live neurons are intimately linked to synaptic transmission during neuronal activity. In this work, it is revealed that, during electrical stimulation, SVs located farther from their fusion sites exhibit greater straightness and experience larger mean forces directed ...

Identification and Characterization of an In Silico Designed Membrane‐Active Peptide with Antiviral Properties

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
An evolutionary molecular dynamics platform is used to design P1.6, a membrane‐active peptide that senses lipid packing defects in viral envelopes. P1.6 adopts a stabilized α‐helical structure upon membrane contact, disrupts virus‐like liposomes, and damages HIV‐1 particles.

Stochastic Dominance Efficiency Tests under Diversification [PDF]

open access: yes
This paper focuses on Stochastic Dominance (SD) efficiency in a finite empirical panel data. We analytically characterize the sets of unsorted time series that dominate a given evaluated distribution by the First, Second, and Third order SD.

Recent Advances in Decoupling Strategies for Soft Sensors

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
This review provides an overview of recent advances in decoupling strategies for soft sensors. It summarizes single‐modal sensors that are insensitive to stretching, bending, crosstalk, and other environmental interferences, and highlights emerging multimodal decoupling methods enabled by spatiotemporal information and machine learning.

The economics of insurance: a review and some recent developments. [PDF]

open access: yes
The present paper is devoted to different methods of choice under risk in an actuarial setting. The classical expected utility theory is first presented, and its drawbacks are underlined.
