Systematic Metabolic Engineering and Model‐Guided Optimization for High‐Level Production of L‐Theanine from Xylose in Escherichia coli

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
This study is pioneering in constructing the shortest known synthetic pathway for L‐theanine production from xylose within E coli. Through comprehensive metabolic engineering strategies, our engineered strain achieved the highest reported L‐theanine titer from xylose, with a titer of 95.42 g/L, and a yield of 0.55 g/g.

The macroeconomics of public sector deficits : the case of Pakistan [PDF]

open access: yes
For almost twenty years, Pakistan's fiscal deficit, at about 7 percent of GNP, averaged nearly twice the level for Asian countries as a whole. This paper examines the causes of Pakistan's fiscal deficits.

Extracellular Vesicles in Autoimmune Diseases: From Diagnostic Biomarkers to Engineered Therapeutics

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
This review provides a systematic comparison of extracellular vesicles (EVs) from both mammalian and plant sources in the context of autoimmune diseases. It highlights their emerging roles as precision biomarkers and engineered therapeutic platforms.

Are the fiscal and monetary policies of the G-7 countries effective in decreasing the U.S. trade deficit? [PDF]

open access: yes
The U.S. trade deficit is a major concern for the G-7 countries. However, it is unclear whether their fiscal and monetary policies are effective in this regard. We examine the relationship between the U.S.

Multimodal Wearable Biosensing Meets Multidomain AI: A Pathway to Decentralized Healthcare

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Multimodal biosensing meets multidomain AI. Wearable biosensors capture complementary biochemical and physiological signals, while cross‐device, population‐aware learning aligns noisy, heterogeneous streams. This Review distills key sensing modalities, fusion and calibration strategies, and privacy‐preserving deployment pathways that transform ...

A Simple and Flexible Alternative to the Stability and Growth Pact Deficit Ceilings. Is it at hand? [PDF]

open access: yes
There have been widespread criticisms of EMU fiscal institutions. We consider a simple alternative to the deficit ceilings envisaged in the Stability and Growth Pact. We advocate the adoption of deficit targets.

Ionic Highways under Multivariate‐Coupled Strategies: Ultrahigh Power Generation from Industrial Waste Liquors Using Robust COF Membranes

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
This study presents a multivariate‐coupled strategy to fabricate TB‐COF membranes with tunable charge density via uniformly distributed Bpy groups, enabling efficient ion transport and energy harvesting. The robust β‐ketoenamine‐linked structure ensures stability, achieving power outputs of 53.08 W m−2 (pH 4), 190.52 W m−2 (low‐grade heat), and 258.81 ...

When is fiscal adjustment an illusion? [PDF]

open access: yes
Fiscal adjustment is an illusion when it lowers the budget deficit or public debt but leaves the government's net worth unchanged, says the author.

Overcoming Hole‐Extraction Barriers: A Facile PEDOT:PSS Interlayer Unlocks Record‐Low Voltage Deficit in PbS Quantum Dot Solar Cells

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
A synergistic methanol and oxalic acid interface engineering strategy is developed for PbS quantum dot solar cells. This approach transforms the PEDOT:PSS layer into a dense, electronically uniform, and conductive network. Consequently, the device achieves a record‐low voltage deficit of 340 mV, yielding a remarkable Voc of 742 mV and a power ...

Highly Active IrRuOx/MnOx Electrocatalysts with Ultralow Anode PGM Demand in Proton Exchange Membrane Electrolyzers

open access: yesAdvanced Energy Materials, EarlyView.
MnOx‐supported IrRuOx exhibits outstanding OER performance in both liquid electrolytes and real cell environments. The MnOx not only enhances the dispersion of IrRuOx but also induces a compressive strain effect. The incorporation of Ru leads to surface reconstruction.
